Russia Cancels its Own LCS Program: Project 20386 Corvettes - Naval News

The Russian MoD is cancelling the production of Project 20386 stealth corvettes, often referred as Russia's own Littoral Combat Ship (LCS).

Russians have cancelled future hulls based on Project 20386, Derzky (renamed from Merkury) will be the only ship in class for now. Part of the reasons given are due to the "reallocation of state funds due to high cost and new technologies" but my understanding is that the class depended a lot on Western tech and now with sanctions in place, the tech denial and lack of substitute tech has derailed the entire program.

The source is a tender enquiry, models for HSTT (High-Speed Towing Tank), SMB (Seakeeping and Manoeuvring Basin), and CT (Cavitation Tunnel) testing. To be delivered within 4, 5, and 6 months from the placement of the order, respectively.
L/B is close to 7, and NGC will end up being as wide as (if not wider than) the Shivalik class frigate.

Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) accorded AoN for procurement of Next Generation Corvettes (NGC) at an estimated cost of approx. 36,000cr in June 2022. GRSE’s in its Q4FY23 investor call mentioned that the shipyard expects RFP to be released in second half of calendar year 2024, MDL in its Q1FY24 call has stated that the RFP is expected around the end of this year, it isn’t clear if it is the end of calendar year or the fiscal year. The project is expected to be divided between two shipyards with L1 getting 5 and L2 receiving 3 hulls.
