İf india has to counter china they must go for more frigates and destroyers

Why india not joined UK AUSTRALİAN and CANADİAN Navies joint GLOBAL COMBAT frigate programı these will be good with ASW role and Multirole capabilities and designed keep in mind Chinese Navy capabilities by Australia

US, Canada and Australia are essentially American/Western allies which India certainly is not. Indian association with China isn't linked with west either.

Indian programs are usually independent with only India specific needs in mind.

Would the UK be willing to let India join the program? So far they seem to be trying to export lower end type 31 or type 32 to non ally countries.
Anyway it would probably be better and cheaper just to build more P-17As.

This program is hilariously bad. The first type 26 frigate began construction at the same time as the Nilgiris, and while Nilgiri will be commissioned next year, the first Type 26 wont get commissioned until 2025-26 at roughly 2 times the price without any of the bells and whistles of the Nilgiris

They were begging us to become a partner. The First Sea Lord visited IN HQ 3 times to convince the IN. IN even took a good look at it, and laughed all the way to signing the P17A

lol, Uk keeps begging India to join its programmes . They did it when their Frigate programme back around 2013 and lately their fighter programme. Ultimately they take in Beta countries like Australia, Canada, etc who end up buying overpriced Uk made products.

I think Nigiri class is pretty much equipped and does not need an external collaboration. On the other hand, western manufacturing getting expensive, and this forces countries to do JV which results in Babudom.

Lot of EU projects are held under various stages due to their own Babudom.

The only technology on the Type-26 that would be of interest is the propulsion. There would also be some quieting measures for ASW.

But yes the Type-26 build time makes the Nilgiri class look good.

Why? Just because they make decent PR? Just because the U.K. wants to offload R&D costs onto someone else?

P17A are world class, the MFSTAR, LRSAM and Brahmos combination makes these ships amongst the most capable floating around.

India doesn’t need to go to anyone else to design or build her warships anymore. The 11356 deal was a political compulsion

And aside from the subs, this is the last time that India would ever buy foreign made naval warships. From now on, all future IN warships are to be designed, produced and fitted out in India.
