It was the Russian who asked to bring Arjun at game, Variety of tanks will attract more views ..

The tank belongs to IA unit, Its maintenance is responsibility of Army it does not goes back in factory but Army workshop ..

The crew and machine comes from the particular unit who have experienced the games before, A modified Arjun MK1 and crew would have preformed better, No doubt ..

Arjun do not qualify because of the criterion set by the host..

But maintenance was shoddy And Due to lack luster And un professionalism of OFB babus

Arey, why we did not use Arjun MBT for the international tank competition. India are out of the race now. On YouTube I saw video which said China is out and today I read an article on ndtv.com which said China has entered the finals and India is out of the competition.

Indian Army didn't use arjun mbt for the international tank competition because IA favours more lighter tank like T90 tank; maybe next time arjun mk2 might have an outside chance of participating in an international competition like this if its weight is reduced to a significant level.

The reasons why T-90 failed ..

The crew were from 7 light caverly who are probably also their in 2016 ..

It would have been interesting to see how an Indian design tank preform on some foreign land and foreign tanks ..

India knocked out of tank contest in Russia after T-90s develop snags

The officers said the main tank’s fan belt broke, while the other failed to perform after its engine oil leaked.Degraded engine performance of T-90s, the mainstay of India’s tank fleet, is a concern for the army. The tanks are unable to operate for sustained periods in high temperatures due to radiator problems, revealed a report by the army design bureau earlier this year.

India will be spending thousands of crores of rupees on upgrading its T-90 fleet in the coming years. The tanks will be equipped with more powerful 1,200-1,500 HP modular engines. The army has an estimated requirement for 2,011 such engines with each likely to cost Rs 5 crore.

Few years back during 2012, This private company was working on T-90 APU and AC, Latter IA wanted to replace its FCS so mount APU from Arjun, Now Army want to buy engines for this tank as the present engine with licensed produced radiator cannot work well ..

supposedly in a recent defence parliamentary committee report, OFB said they want to correct radiator problem with the help of russian vendor. They also mention that russian vendor is not being helpful. no immediate plans for engine upgrade..

Kunal Bhai adding some more info to the above, sorry if they are repetitive. I did some digging from BR and our forum for summary

Then HVF officials discovered that Russia had withheld key T-90S technologies without valid reason. This included technology for crucial components like the tank’s main gun and a key section of the turret armour. When New Delhi demanded those technologies, Moscow blandly responded that they were secret. To this day, Russia has not transferred full technology for building the T-90S in India.

Also correct me if I am wrong , we have developed the tin can 90 tank gun indigenously (barrel tech) in Central Ordnance Depot, Kanpur, and the turret armour component in CVRDE (Combat Vehicles R&D Establishment), Avadi. This is still a sticking point between India and Russia.

the army also discovered that the T-90S sights were not calibrated to Indian tank ammunition, which was falling well short of the targets that it was fired at. A panicked MoD appealed to the DRDO and other research institutions to re-orient the T-90S’s fire control computer to Indian ammunition. Meanwhile, shiploads of tank rounds were ordered from Russia at great cost.(Bharath rakshak)

The above issues are solved by Using inputs from Arjun project. so the million dollar question is our idiots or morons don't have patience in sorting out issues in Arjun but they have all the time on the planet to make , sort out issues for tin can 90's . Most of them forget the fact that russian export hardware is never the same in quality as the one used by russian armed forces. For starters most of the Indian made T 90's uses Kanchan armour and most of the issues are in T90 are sorted due to the knowledge gained from Arjun project. the russians --us well . So There is only us to blame, not the Russians. because we have enemies within .

As per media report's LEDS will be used both on T90 and Arjun (once again I am little lost like what amount of tech transfer we got from Russians, based on the below and posts from above.

The solution provides combat personnel with vital situational awareness on laser threats and countermeasure availability and areas of coverage/protection offered under dynamic conditions, allowing manual or fully automatic responses against threats.

At Defexpo 2016 Tata displayed a model of T-90 fitted with LEDS 150 active protection system, comprising radar sensors and traversable countermeasure dispensers designed to protect the tank from anti-tank missiles and RPGs.
