Interesting thread. My laptop and PC specs are:

Laptop: HP Pavilion DV6-3006tx
core i5-430M 2.26Ghz (boost to 2.53 or something), HM55 chipset
4Gb DDR3 Ram
Radeon HD5650 1Gb DDR3
15.6" LED (16x9)
500Gb 7200rpm HDD
HD audio, webcam, E-sata, Lightscribe, 5 card reader, w-lan, win7 home premium 64bit

Plays games like grid, NFS shift on max settings with 1366x768 with good framerate. love this laptop.
Only thing I dont like - Tried to install XP. First had to slipstream XP cd with chipset drivers. Then HP wont provide drivers for many components.

Desktop: Assembled by myself in 2006
Gigbyte 915P duo pro MB
P4 3Ghz HT, 2Gb DDR2 ram
Nvidia 8600GT 512Mb DDR2
2 audio cards - Cmedia 7.1 HD & Cmedia 5.1
2 x 80Gb 7200 Sata HDD
DVD-RAM, DVD-RW x2 (total 3 drives)
leadtek tv card, w-lan card + 2 onboard lans, XP pro dualboot

i overclocked processor, ram, graphics card about a year ago to play latest games. had to leave case open with small table fan pointed towards MB when playing.:happy_2: graphics card has super-stupid silent big heat sink:angry_6: (has no fan). cant be touched while playing games, just too hot.

even by todays standards its specs are ok I think, could be wrong though. Dont use it often anymore. Laptop gets 95% of my computer time.

@TM
just playing with the themes and panels ;)

@LB
Using 10.04 only because it is stable, currently Unity is unstable and some features are missing, i installed it and it tend to crash, will use it when it matures, perhaps in Ubuntu 12.10, i will try gnome 3.x as well ;) both the environments are not mature enough, once they mature, there won't any point in using gnome2.x , i'll start using them actually dying to use them :love:
