Continuing from above post.

Articles like THIS written by him as recent as may 2012 talks about US economy. If one reads the article, the tone is something like an US guy addressing other US people on US fin policy.

Who are these senior journalists I wonder.

Journalists are joining in at one-and-a-half-time the salary for Rahul's "war room"

There is a race among senior journalists to join Raul Gandhi's "war room". In the past few days, nearly 18 journalists, most of who were covering the BJP beat, have said goodbye to their jobs with well-established newspapers and have joined Rahul at one-and-a-half times the current salary. Rahul and his team gave preference to the journalists who were covering the BJP only because they believe that these journalists will have a better knowledge of the BJP and Sangha Parivar and will know a lot about their internal politics as well as their strategy for elections. Rahul has promised these journalists that after the Lok Sabha elections, these journalists will get back their jobs with whichever newspaper they were working for. These journalists seem to be enjoying their news jobs at the war room, because they don't have to stress about the work. There are vending machines for Coke, coffee, and different kinds of sandwiches. Whenever these journalists are free, they get to play with Rahul's Yorkshire terrier breed she-dog Piddi.

@nrupatunga Rajan turned out to be an Indian citizen, although some speculated because of his close association with American agencies he might work in their interests.
He is one of the most qualified people in his field, and I am glad he is at the helm of RBI. I am sure he won't be an out and out sell out like some of our Govt Servants (pun unintended).

He is an academic and Keynesian economist,I went to an IIT & IIM and he too went to both and was the royal topper.

Such people are generally suckers of the system and have no real independent personality that we saw in YV Reddy or Subba Rao.

I am quite pessimistic.

Interesting !

Mamata taps 'unhappy' Jogi

New Delhi, Aug. 8: Mamata Banerjee has been trying to poach on the Congress without much success outside Bengal but the latest target she has identified — disgruntled former Chhattisgarh chief minister Ajit Jogi — could be a huge catch.

Sources told The Telegraph the Bengal chief minister invited Jogi to join the Trinamul Congress some time ago. A Trinamul Lok Sabha member later met Jogi and tried convincing him not to "tolerate the humiliation" any longer. As Jogi showed little interest in joining Trinamul, the MP asked him to float his own regional outfit instead of "rotting in the Congress".

The MP, a source revealed, assured Jogi of "help" even if he broke away from the Congress without joining Trinamul. He talked of the "culture of sycophancy" in the Congress and the "conspiracies to sideline strong leaders" and asked: "For how long will you keep waiting for appointments in Delhi?"

Jogi, who is not happy with the party central leadership after his requests to give him command of the upcoming Chhattisgarh election fell on deaf ears, however, did not give any commitment.

Jogi aides insist he would never join Mamata and was likely to float his own outfit if he had to take the extreme step of quitting the Congress.

Sources said Mamata had contacted Jaganmohan Reddy, too, as part of her plan to bring all Congress splinter groups under one umbrella. Her axis with the chief ministers of Bihar and Odisha, also linked with 2014 post-poll possibilities, is public knowledge.

Mamata's poaching operations should not alarm the Congress as it has also been plotting to pay her in the same coin. Congress leaders have often boasted that several Trinamul MPs were in touch with them and would cross over if Mamata did badly in the panchayat polls. That hope has crashed with Trinamul sweeping the panchayat polls.

But Congress leaders have not given up, arguing that those MPs were still looking for the right opportunity to ditch Mamata. Some are believed to have met top Congress "decision-makers" and expressed their desire to come back.

But these are small games compared to what Mamata is playing. Sewing up a secular front that can whittle down the UPA's clout and compel the Congress to deal with it on its terms can dramatically alter the post-poll possibilities in 2014. Had she succeeded in wresting Jogi from the Congress, she would have overnight become a formidable player in Chhattisgarh.

Jogi, who recently put up a hoarding at his Raipur residence that ticket-seekers should not disturb him and should instead contact the PCC, is constantly sending out signals of his unhappiness with the high command.

Although Sonia Gandhi made him a member of the co-ordination committee and his wife Renu a vice-president in the state unit, his supporters claim only a clear signal of his being in command would satisfy him. The party does not seem in favour of yielding so much. That is bound to create conflict and affect the party's prospects in the Assembly election.

Did you post about his wife going there to address some Kshatriya Sammelan in a chopper ? If not him then his wife will stand.

Gen Singh is quite ambitious, from Anna camp to Modi.

Nothing wrong with being ambitious but I hope he doesn't turn into a blatant opportunist.

Why the supposed rupee-dollar parity of 1947 is a myth
For the record, the rupee was never equal to the dollar, except perhaps in the hoary past. At the time of independence, India's currency was pegged to pound sterling, and the exchange rate was a shilling and six pence for a rupee — which worked out to Rs 13.33 to the pound.

The dollar-pound exchange rate then was $4.03 to the pound, which in effect gave a rupee-dollar rate in 1947 of around Rs 3.30. The pound was devalued in 1949, changing its dollar parity from 4.03 to 2.80.

India was then a part of the sterling area, and the rupee was devalued on the same day by the same percentage, so that the new dollar exchange rate in 1949 became Rs 4.76 — which is where it stayed till the rupee devaluation of 1966 made it Rs 7.50 to the dollar and the pound moved to Rs 21.

Dunno why Narendra Modi dislikes the garrulous Tewari so much, but his aides are in touch with Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy CM Sukhbir SB to ensure that Tiwari does not get re-elected from the Ludhiana Lok Sabha seat.

Another Congress MP whom Team Modi has its sights on is Ajay Maken. Modi wants Sushma Swaraj to move from her Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh, Lok Sabha seat, to take on Maken in the New Delhi parliamentary constituency.
Is this a move to consolidate his place?? Will she agree to move from a "safe" seat??

Telangana, Food Security, new Divorce law, and Land Acquisition, all Sonia Gandhi's big decisions. She is increasingly sounding like a super model at a beauty pageant, who when asked about what she would like to do for the society, cutely replies with "I want to solve all world problems," without a shred of knowledge on how to go about it. The judges of the beauty pageant affectionately excuse the model, and applause follows. In Sonia's case, however, she doesn't realise that she is actually in command of the destinies of 1.25 billion sentient human beings. And to think this lady's basic educational qualifications are suspicious, it's like giving your pet monkey a really sharp knife to play with, while you take a nap!
