All said and done, the chinese have some impressive military hardware. Their wily tactics & overwhelming numbers (a la Soviet style) helped them during the Korean conflict and the '62 war.

If it ever comes to engaging them, it will not be just the Chinese, but the pakis that will use the opportunity. Hence, it is in our best interests that we can only deter them by sizing up in numbers.

In fact I am of the opinion that we should engage in arms training en-masse to the general population of the country and allow the right to bear arms - under careful consideration of course.

1.)QLZ-87 grenade launcher~fire power,range(600m-1700m) and wt is good.
~
2.)SM4 81mm Self-Propelled Auto-mortar~4rounds in 2sec to 6.5km
~
3.)PLA's PLL05 120mm Self-Propelled Mortar~The turret is fitted with a cylinder-shape electro-optical device, which may allows the use of smart ammunitions like the Russian KBP Gran laser-guided mortar round.

PLA weapons are indeed better in some aspect but again not very good in weight issues ..

For example QLZ-87 grenade launcher vs OFB MGL ..

155mm SPGH is a heavy system and cannot operate over narrow passes over mountains, Its operation is most like if deployed over norther tibet area inside mostly Chinese territory ..

true. But QLZ-87 will come handy when taking out machine gun NEST/defensive posture from long distance(600m-1700m) in mountains.

True so does any RL, But point what mention here is weight ..

Mountain troops are lighter in equipment, To take a bunker a light RL is a better option ..

obviously it's not the PLZ05 but a M109...

----------------------------------------
a 24 ton's class wheeled 155 mm SPH is around corner which is more likely the replacement of Type66-1 152mm Howitzer currently in the Devision level Artillary regiments of this region ...but it's not the export project SH-1 155mm either...

the prototype in the firing range

Type66-1 would also replaced by the 3.5-3.8 tons class 155mm light weight howizer soon in the mountain artillary units. the bid is over, the winner is-a AH-4 alike design

-------------------------------
so far ,we got to know two kinds of 120 mm Mortar smart shell .

1.the Laser guide shell displayed in 2007 ...in service

the shell and the laser designator

2. the INS/Beidou guide shell under development

-----------------------
two new 35mm semi-automatic grenade launcher is commissioned

the around 9Kg QLB06--3 kg reduced than the QLZ87 (light status)

a new model with longer range and Electro-Optical Targeting System---called as 'grenade launcher Sniper system'

China can develop reliable weapons and make them very quickly, which is commendable....they have many institutes developing Small Arms in China, while in India, we have ARDE and OFB, with lots of internal bickering, and consequent slow pace of work....

Indian Small arms are gud and in many respect better, All is needed upgrade of existing system ..

But the issue is not between OFB, ARDE but Indian Government which is corrupt and suppress National defense Industry to promote imports ( SCAMS ) ..

RL only useful in line of sight only.
But QLG-87 do non sighted NEST like dig in/shadow position(hiding behind rocks)...

That is incorrect, A MGL or GL is not accurate if used in such a position, and a RL such as 84mm RCL CG used by IA can be used in elevated mode but inaccurate too ..

In military a GL is used in LOS or little elevated, But used indirect attack behind rock etc, Is the work of 51mm motar used by IA ..

QLZ87 was designed as both direct fire and curved fire weapon...

with a low presssure propellant and low speed grenade , the trajectory is quite curving...

here is the QLZ87's Range tables(up to 800 meters) engraved in the metal of the weapon body...

ex... shooting at the 800 meter away target, the angle of fire is 137.7 mils(about 8.22 degrees), the highest point of trajectory is 32.95m high and 425m away...the hiting angle would be 176.5 mils(around 10.6 degrees).

-------------------
btw, QLZ87 and QLB06 are both automatic grenade launchers not semi automatic ones which means continuous fire mode is available ...

the QLZ87 is an old Genearation GL, which is designed for dual-config.
1.the bipod status with 6 ronds mag at 12KGs--comany level fire support weapon
2.the tripod status wiht 15 rounds mag at 20 kgs...battalion level fire support weapon

nowadays , the new Gen GL was distributed to two (or three, if the long range sniper model included) models :

the Squad-Platoon level ------QLB06 light weight GL
the range is reduced to 600 meters...about 9Kgs with 6 or 15 rounds mag...

and the Company-battalion level --------QLZ04 grenade machine-gun...
24 kg 30 ronds ammo belt...1750 meters range...

Add to the Indian strategic Air lift capabilities to deploy the brigade size strength in just 45 Minutes.

In 1962 Nehru had to bag Strategic transport from US

Also there was talk of Roll on Roll off capabilities of Indian Hercules Aircraft. AN TPQ 37 Radars are already placed near LAC

Chinese AK copy is Type 56.

Type 81 is later development over Type 56 and offer less recoil and greater accuracy than original AK/ type 56

Type 81 variants are very common with North East militants groups.

We have deployed T 72 tanks in Ladakh. They need Trophy protection system to counter Chinese ATGMs. Chinese Rocket artillery is going to be our biggest concern. Any news on Chinese tank formations on Aksai Chin? I know there was a tank training ground.

The closest frontline PLA armored divisions are in Kashgar and Lanzhou in neighboring provinces.

Also, the most prevalent forces in Tibet, including the border troops, are People's Armed Police not the PLA. Yes, they use the older Type 81.
