PLA, Russian Navy to conduct joint naval drill near Diaoyutai

The People's Liberation Army Navy and Russian Navy will hold a joint naval exercise for the first time in the East China Sea, near the disputed Diaoyutai islands (Diaoyu to China, Senkaku to Japan), according to the Moscow-based Voice of Russia on Apr. 29.
The exercise will take place between May and June this year and involve a total 20 vessels, a Russian naval officer told the Voice of Russia, adding that the two sides deliberated on the location for three days.
The drill will involve the East Sea Fleet of the PLA Navy and the Russian Pacific Fleet and will be held in the international waters off the disputed islands to solidify the military cooperation between the two nations, the officer said.
A Russian Pacific Fleet spokesperson said that Moscow will deploy a guided-missile cruiser, a guided-missile destroyer, a supply ship and a tug boat to take part in the joint exercise. They will arrive in Shanghai through the Tsushima Strait in May. The timing coincides with the Russian president Vladimir Putin's visit to China to attend the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia.

Japan is the one country in East Asia that had to choose between Russia and America over Ukraine - China and India didn't have to.

Another interesting thing to note is that the US is 'urging' Japan to use its air force and poke/prod Russia's control of Sakhalin (which both Japan and Russia claim, and which has 14 billion barrels of oil and 2.7 trillion cubic meters of natural gas, or 3x more oil and gas than the Chunxiao Gas Field underlying the Diaoyu Islands).

So far, Japan has refused, but the US has made it clear that Japan cannot have both its alliance with the US and expect to 'shirk its duties' in the Western bloc. In this regard, the more pressure China puts on Japan, the weaker Japan's bargaining position with respect to both America and Russia become.

aren't you thinking too one sided
actually china is threat to america too that's why it can't lose japan . As well as japan have allies like vietnam,australia ,philippines,india so simply china isn't that big threat,but russia is ,but on other hand america will help japan against russia at any cost
