Random pictures from Telangana Jatara (a cultural exhibition), held in Hyderabad last week (click to enlarge).

Traditional dressing: it's some of the only places in the south where you'll find proper implementation of the turban. There's also a strong Marathi influence:

Sammaka Saraka, the local deity, She is Telangana's interpretation of Goddess Durga (each region in the country has its distinct interpretation of Maa Durga):

Deccani Muslims. The community is generally liberal, moderate, and more Sufism-affine:

Tribals. These tribes, I guess, are from northern parts:

Village folk in their traditional dress:

Kalakaars. Village artists who teach Hindu epics through skits:

TBC...

...contd.

Gangirreddu. It is a bull lead by its trainer-farmer, who depicts it as Nandeshwar (Nandi). The bull is pretty playful, and sometimes does tricks:

Bonalu:

Lambadas. A sort of nomadic ethnicity that flourished all over south-central India, especially Telangana:

This man is silently protesting the central government's reluctance towards the Telangana issue. He's holding a collage of news relating to suicides of young men and women who were "unable to bear the injustices":

The cultural festival is about to begin, crowds are gathering at the main stage. The event is divided into three areas: a cultural exhibition, stalls selling memorabilia, sarees, and food, and the main stage:

Memorabilia stalls are going full, each stall sells books (in English, Telugu, and Urdu), audio CDs, VCDs, DVDs, and multimedia CDs, along with stickers, calendars, and other stuff. Then there are stalls that sell the famous Gadwal silk sarees:

These incredible images of waves were taken by the number 1 photographer of surf: Clark Little.
He has dedicated his life to photographing the waves and has published a selection of the the best images of his career.
He captures magical moments inside the "tube", as surfers say.

A roughly 10-storey tall statue of Saint Thallapakam Annamayyachari at Rajampet, Kadapa dist., A.P. Taken on the 13th.

The college in the background isn't part of the statue park.
