Guy, here is what V. S. Naipaul wrote in his book “Beyond Belief: Islamic Excursions among Converted People.”. He described how Islam changes everything including the history of nations its followers conquer:

Islam is in its origins an Arab religion. Everyone not an Arab who is a Muslim is a convert. Islam is not simply a matter of conscience or private belief. It makes imperial demands. A convert’s worldview alters. His holy places are in Arab lands; his language is Arabic. His idea of history alters. He rejects his own; he becomes, whether he likes it or not, a part of the Arab story. The convert has to turn away from everything that is his. The disturbance for societies is immense, and even after a thousand years can remain unresolved; the turning away has to be done again and again. People develop fantasies about who and what they are; and in the Islam of the converted countries there is an element of neurosis and nihilism. These countries can be easily set on the boil.”

I see this phenomenon working overtime in the case of Pakistan.

^^Bang on target. Pakistanis are going through the tumultuous experiences exactly as Naipaul has described. Zia ul Haq has set Pakistan on boil by Islamizing the country's institutions and young minds in schools by depriving them of their own culture and history and now this full circle is being completed by Taliban and Taliban-supporting madrassas that have mushroomed all over Pakistan.

I object to this comment of yours. You do not have to be Hindu to be Indian. This is something that Pakistani's tend to say very often, and it is something I find very annoying/offensive.

Just because Pakistan is an Islamic country doesn't mean India is a Hindu country. India has JUST as many Muslims as Pakistan, if not more.

You don't have to be Hindu to have Indian culture. You can be Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, etc. After all, we are a secular country.

I am a Muslim, and an Indian with Indian culture.
I dont agree completely with you.
By indian culture i mean hindus , sikhs, Buddhist, ...
Not muslim , Christians, ...

You live in india so of course you have indian culture.

If you read carefully , i didnt say indian culture is only hindu culture.
As i said india is multi cultural.

Of course , but indian culture in pakistan is minimal, and with time it will fade away. Its history.
Its not a hate or love thing, but its just a fact that in pakistan islamic culture is very dominant.

Islam came in India b4 sikh....and it is in India for thousand years....why you dont recognize the fact that Indian culture is a mixed bag of everything....Islamic culture is also a part of it.

The Idea of this Thread was to Discuss about the Linguistic aspect of Pakistan, not Bringing in Indian Culture and Religious Aspect of it. Stay On Topic and Maintain the Quality.

If that your motherland then thats really strange .
By the way did you know that more than 50 percentage of land area of pakistan is iranic area.
So if thats your motherland why dont you include afghanistan as your motherland too.

So now its about controlling. I thougt it was your mother land . :)

I have the impression that you dont recongnize pakistan as a independent country. Prove me wrong, because you are smarter than that.
