My current build:
View attachment 48289

I've named it "Nathuram."

Specs:
  • AMD Ryzen 7 2700X processor
  • ASUS ROG Strix B450-E Gaming
  • 32 GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3200
  • Palit GeForce RTX 2080 Super GameRock Pro Limited Edition
  • WD Black SN750 1 TB NVMe SSD + 3 TB HDD
  • Cooler Master MWE Gold 650W PSU
Nathuram pulls a 4K UHD monitor. After lockdown I plan to give him some upgrades.
That build is just overkill. 😂

I am saving for this build. It would be complete Ryzen 4000 desktop build. So waiting for the new processor lineup and accordingly select a capable GPU.

But my core build would be compact beast ITX with Ghost S1.

AMD Ryzen 4000, Zen 3 Desktop CPUs Could Bring Up To 20% IPC Increase, Internal Performance & Efficiency Figures Outperform Intel CPUs By Huge Margin
By Hassan Mujtaba / May 15

...The rumor mentions that engineers at two well-known OEMs have indicated that the performance of Ryzen 4000 CPUs based on the Zen 3 architecture has risen to an 'Alarming Level'. In the next statement, it is reported that these OEMs have also compared the performance of Ryzen 4000 with Intel's upcoming products, and based on the results, AMD Ryzen 4000 will utterly beat Intel in both performance and efficiency figures...

Is there a significant performance difference between i7-9750H and i7-10510U if you are not Gaming or Editing videos? :lehappy:

Edit: Fuck Intel. There are like 7 or 8 different 10th Gen i7 processors for laptop. What the Fuck.:rage:

i7-10510U is marginally better in some memory and hardware optimizations, for private use it should not matter much. Go for the 9th Gen one if the cost difference is substantial.

Next gen consoles are based on Zen 2. That, plus imminent release of Zen 3 means I'll be able to snag the 3700X for cheap :lehappy:

i7-10510U is for slim and light laptops (Asus Zenbook 14 with screenpad ) and i7-9750H for bulky gaming type (Asus ROG).

I was thinking maybe because I don't need sustained high load like hours of continuous gaming, U series would be fine.

How much difference does 15W vs 45W TDP make in real life?

Yup, as soon as Zen 3 is launched current Ryzen will see price dip. But probably in the very next month AMD is going to launch Ryzen 2's XT (according to the leaks) models that alone will drop prices of X models... 👉

A lot. More power dissipation = larger cooling solution. Otherwise CPU cycles drop significantly specially during summers . As long as you are not gaming for long hours, it should be fine. though.

Just a point though - For gaming number of threads are not that important.
all comes down to cache and clock speed.
Yup, but for non-competitive gamer average plus cpu is sufficient. R7 2700 is a powerful cpu in terms of overall computing.
