Pakistan's Existence: A need or a burden?

Guest Column: By Syed Jamaluddin.

(These are the personal views of the author who is from Pakistan now living in Europe. He has written a book "Divide Pakistan to eliminate Terrorism' which has recently figured in some reports carried by the media. We had asked him what made him write the book. This is his response SAAG)

Regardless of the fact that the advocates of two-nation theory have finally realized after half a century that the division of United India was not a good idea for international peace, there is a need to correct mistakes. India's democratic strength for the last 59 years has proved that its existence was fully justified. On the contrary, Pakistan emerged as a failed state for one single reason that a country which was founded by assembling almost eight different nations in the name of Islam, was unable to justify its existence. Since its formation, Pakistan has been a country full of conspiracies, discrepancies, controversies and corruption. Pakistan could not prove its worth as a state and remained just a piece of land occupied by certain opportunists who turned the entire country into their personal property.

The military rulers of Pakistan captured power of this country on numerous occasions thereby proving that the country was not founded for welfare of people living on its soil but for the beginning of a new era of fascism under the disguise of Islam. Fascism is a religious conception in which man is seen in his imminent relationship with a superior law and with an objective will that transcends the particular individual and raises him to conscious membership of a spiritual society. Whoever has seen in the religious politics of the Fascist regime nothing but mere opportunism has not understood that Fascism besides being a system of government is also, and above all, a system of thought. Pakistan, therefore, became an example of such Fascism. The military dictators turned the country into a paradise for looters, corrupt politicians, greedy bureacrats, incompetent administrators, uneducated reformers, militant jihadi groups, religious cults, bogus scholars and above-the-law intelligence agencies.

The socalled democracy which prevailed for almost 13 years out of 59 years of its existence in Pakistan produced sophisticated looters of national wealth who used new mechanisms to deprive the country from standing on sound footings. Similarly, the socalled politicians of the country who were rather farmers-turned politicians or businessmen-turned politicians or retired-army-personnel-turned politicians controlled the fate of this country. Such people called the shots. The result is very visible that Pakistan has now become a danger to the entire humanity. Had it been a matter limited within the jurisdiction of Pakistan, there would have never arisen any need to raise any voice, but, the situation is worse than that.

Today's Pakistan has turned into a typical Fascist regime without any ideology. The President of this country wears an army uniform, the Chief Justice of its Supreme Court is treated like an ordinary clerk and pushed on the road by local policemen, the Intelligence agencies rule the country and function beyond any legal boundaries, the socalled religious scholars have become preachers of radical Islam through brainwashing techniques with an aim to produce terrorists, bureacracy has become a tool in the hands of those who use money to do what they want, foreign policy is nothing but pretence and false statements, economy is based on assumptions and above all, this country has gained nuclear power through backdoor.

The whole world has become vulnerable to terrorism. The question is who is masterminding such terrorism? Who is providing all possible support to terrorism? Who is creating terrorist minds? Who is a threat to international peace? The answer is very simple............Pakistan. Pakistan's religious groups are responsible for masterminding the international terrorism. The Tablighi Jamat has been busy for the last 75 years in producing brains who hate Non-Muslims and as such the militant Jihadi groups based in Pakistan are nothing but "fruits" of such brainwashing techniques used by Tablighi Jamat since long. Similarly, support in terms of financial and otherwise is coming from state-owned intelligence agencies. Creation of Taliban and Al-Qaeda are glaring examples of such support by the Pakistan-based intelligence agencies. World's most wanted man is considered as a "Guest" on the soil of Pakistan. Now that Pakistan has nuclear power, is it not correct that entire humanity is vulnerable to any possible disaster? A country which is possessed by forces which are not answerable to any one and which is beyond any legal system is indeed a great threat to the entire world. Pakistan has, therefore, become a burden. This burden needs to be off-loaded by way of its disintegration. Pakistan should be divided into 5 parts or more to crush the terrorist network which has gained its deep roots in present geographic form of Pakistan. My book titled "DIVIDE PAKISTAN TO ELIMINATE TERRORISM" advocates necessity of Pakistan's disintegration. An Independent Pakhtoonistan, Baluchistan, Sindhudesh, Jinnahpur and Punjabistan will prevent the current nourishment and spread of terrorism from the soil of Pakistan.

lets assume that pakistan is divided into all these separate states..could that possibly lead to voices being raised in Indian punjab to reunite with Pak Punjab? Or is that highly unlikely? And assume if that happens...could that lead to other states also wanting to become separate, thereby leading to balkanization of india as well? Just a question that I've always had when talking about balkanization of Pakistan.

In my opinion the balkanization of Pakistan could have severe consequences for India.

Or conversely, maybe balkanization of Pakistan may lead to reunification of India and Pak? That seems more unlikely to me though.

Another thread on division of pakistan. I would rather be in existing thread. Anyways, the author didn't have any ideas on how the division of pakistan will take place. What will engineer? May be its in his book,

His proposed geography for South Asia has been mentioned in his upcoming book "Divide Pakistan To Eliminate Terrorism" which advocates 5 new countries.

Mehwish,

Highly unlikely Indian Punjab would want to join the pakistan Punjab if pakistan were to be divided.

1 The muslim population in Indian punjab is if anything negligible so the religious and ideological angle is missing. Even the Indian muslim hardly ever correlates with a Pakistani.

2 Today Sikhs comprise a decent chunk of the complete population and if I am not mistaken they are around 50% of the population there, and mainly hindus comprise the rest and a muslim pak Punjab which sees non-muslims, non-sunnis as kafir wont be comfortable with the non-believers becoming a part and parcel of their lives.

3 During these past 63 years culturally both sides have drifted apart with pak Punjab coming out as more conservative more orthodox and our side much more liberal.

4 India provides an economic stimulus, a land locked pak Punjab and Indian Punjab together will depend on others for international trade and there by a huge chance of external forces having a bigger hold in the running of the affairs of this new state.

5 post division pak Punjab will still be called Pakistan (or so I believe) will the Indian Punjab be comfortable with that dominance.

6 if a division happens looking at the past a mass migration will happen with loads of hindus and a minority Sikhs moving back to left out India, will the GoI sleep over it?

I seriously suspect there is any room for any such hope, the synergies are missing, even the concept of now defunct khalistan doesn't find any resonance which had a greater appeal and threat of happening, and if regionalism was such a big factor there wont have been any west Bengal with us which would have been a part of Bangladesh or there wont have been any tamil nadu either which would have taken to armed struggle along with the LTTE against the state of India for a separate tamil home land as a separate country, even Kashmir as an issue is not all that relevant as has been made out to be. Though its not that such things were not suspected to happen but I think we have passed that critical phase.

I think what we really do need to appreciate is that in diversity is our unity and because of this diversity the thing with which most of us like to correlate with is being called Indian. Recently a poll was conducted by NDTV where the question asked was, do you call your self an Indian or identify with the state that you are from and an overwhelming 90(+)% respondents replied Indian and respondents were around 30,000people.

On the contrary the gelling factor between Pakistanis is not as much nationalism but religion where the concept of superiority over others is quite prevalent which became the reason of the creation of Bangladesh just with in 24years of its creation, which became the reason of near one third subcontinent muslims preferring to stay back in India when partition happened even though Pakistan was being propagated as the land of subcontinent muslims, which will one day become a reason for an independent baluchistan if the US was to say enough is enough.

Did Bangladesh and West Bengal merge ?

And assume if that happens...could that lead to other states also wanting to become separate, thereby leading to balkanization of india as well? Just a question that I've always had when talking about balkanization of Pakistan.
When Pakistan broke into 2 was there a similar demand in India ?

In my opinion the balkanization of Pakistan could have severe consequences for India.

How many times has the Army taken over in India ? How many times has a new constitution been drafted ?

Pakistan as a state has no identity.

pakistan is in a transitional stage where it is transforming from a threat to a bloody nuisance nowadays. All those jeehardy asses which the PA seems to have nurtured seem to be coming of age and are becoming frankenstein monsters with their own source of logistics and hold in PA politics. One thing after the american withdrawal pakistan may not cease to exist but it will certainly cease to exist as a functioning state. The whole is a jerry can structure which is held by the army will be now held by the corps commanders with them squabbling with each other over resources.Already the PA is slowly loosing its grip on Punjab and the battle for control of punjab will happen at various levels.

Coupling with this one must take into account the unique toxic feudal structure that still exists in pakistan a rich upper 1 % of population which holds 90% of land. The serfish Abdul may always be heavily influenced by a commie ideology in the guise of allah in that case whole of punjab will be toppled

I think its time that india must have separate Indus water treaty with sindh an start diverting proportionate waters from western rivers(chenab,Jhelum,Indus) and supply it to sindh through Indira gandhi canal in rajasthan by extending it to sindh.

i am really fed of divide Pakistan here and divide india on other sites(u people can guess it where).its high time we realize it thats its not going to happen in near or far future.we should accept the reality that we have a neighbor which is always going to play mischief with us and should plan accordingly. i think division happen for the good because if we weren't divide then there would always tension between government of india , hindu and muslim elite a three way fight between, asking for there share in PIE in the cake. this would have given rise to more tension, frantic violence and a flip to our old indian RAJA-MAHARAJ`S who were laying idle ( from time when Britisher captured india) at time of independence. And certainly it would have killed and idea of INDIA

when your neighbor's home is at fire you must hope that Fire Brigade eliminates the fire before your home also turns into ashes....

The divided weak & Anarchic Balkanized States made out of Pakistan with some nuclear weapons & threat of Al-Qeda Taliban looming around will mean what washed up on our borders is going to get washed up at Indian Border

exactly true thats why you see the concern in india about pakistan and afganistan its not just the region it will spill inside india its high time things get co-operative and transparent on that front because fire knows no boundaries

If Pakistan (at least Sindh and Punjab) want back into India, I would welcome such a change. Baloachistan wasn't a proper part of British India, anyway. Map from the early 1900s:

They would rather amalgamate Baloach parts of Pakistan, Iran, and Afghanistan into a greater Baloach state, merge NWFP based on their ethnicities with Afghanistan, and let West Punjab and Sindh merge with the India using a mechanism identical to China's One Country, Two Systems, so that the two states could be gradually reintegrated into India, so that the economic and social disparities don't come as a 'shock' to either systems.

Pakistan is a failed experiment. No use beating a dead horse.

To India, Pakistan is basically a few rooms of our own house sold to someone else, and we ended up having problems with borewell water and parking space.

Any idiots (Products of parllel cousin marriages descendants of pure and bious arabs) with ideas of crossing the indian border with a stinger and an AK-47 will be brutally culled(I recommend the GOI to skin tham and stuff them to be displayed in museums).Mark my words madam the GOI will not be having qualms of doing genocide as long as they are not indian citizens.Nobody in india has emphathy for the pakistani state or its citizens for the atrocities it has done to the indian nation and its public for the past 60 years
