Paramilitary man held for WFP suicide bombing

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik said on Saturday that a paramilitary soldier had been arrested for his alleged involvement in the Oct 5 suicide attack on the UN food agency’s office in Islamabad that killed five of its staffers.

The Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan had claimed responsibility for targeting the World Food Programme, saying the agency’s work was not in “the interest of Muslims”.

The minister did not reveal the identity of the man, but said he was also involved in the Dec 2 suicide attack outside the Pakistan Navy’s headquarters in Islamabad that killed one guard and wounded 11 others. Talking to journalists, Mr Malik ruled out the presence of controversial firm Blackwater in Pakistan. “I state again with full responsibility and as per available record that there is no Blackwater in the country. A hype is being created.”

Pakistan has a unique way of thanking people who help them - by killing them.

1) French Engineers helping build Agosta submarines get bombed and mass-murdered.

2) Chinese civil engineers get kidnapped and killed

3) and finally for the Coup de Gras - killing members of the UN WFP (World food program). Pakistan is the only country in the world that kills people who want to supply food to the poor and desperate.

What a country !!!

The French engineers were killed by Pakistani army because pre decided bribe was not paid. Cannot imagine that in India. Coming to topic, this is not the first time it seems TTP had too many contacts inside PA or ISI.

Thank you for your insightful comments sir.
But french engineers didnt come to make a deal they came bcoz they were working in Karachi shipyard and sir Naval affairs are seen my Navy not army.
If that was the case we wouldnt be buying any defence equipment from them(french) and they wouldnt have made a deal for providing 18 EuroTiger assault helicopters and fennic assault helis.Nor would they be providing therman sights for our tanks nor offering ur MARLYN submarine or working on our JF17s and giving us MICA.
About TTP sir if they had so good relations with PA or ISI there leaders like muslim khan and sufi mohammad would be sitting in jail and 8000 dead terrorist scums wouldnt be dead nor swat buner or waziristan be cleared.

In teh tribal areas, many of the soldiers, govt officials, police also have close relatives in the insurgent groups. Pak establishment is heavily "infiltrated" with talibani elements, the question is how much damage can the taliban cause by leveraging their relatives/sympathisers in the establishment ?

To gauge their effectiveness here is a snippet.
"According to the people of Waziristan, drones have never killed any civilian. Some people in Waziristan even compare the drones with ababils (the holy swallows sent by God to avenge Abraha, the invader of the Khana Kaaba). A component of the Pakistani media, some retired generals, a few journalists/analysts and pro-Taliban political parties never stop their baseless propaganda against drone attacks."

Sir i dont think your right. Many govt. officialsand police officiers have been killed by taliban. If Pakistani establishment is heavily infiltrated with taliban elements i wonder why they are killing MNAs and attacking ministers?and more then 2000 soldiers have embraced martyrdom?

Isnt that a good thing if civilians are not killed by predator drones targetting SCUM TALIBAN??
But yes civilians are being killed by drone strikes infact now people have started to shoot drones themselves and they did manage to shoot several drones just a few days back.

Pakistan has a history of disowning their soldiers. They don't mind sacrificing their soldiers to meet their strategic goals. If pakistan was an enemy of the Taliban, Mulla Omar would gave been roast by now and his friend OBL.

For example, a Mehsud army officer, a member of the most radical Pushtun tribe, whose militant chiefs head a frontier-wide conglomeration of tribally based Islamists known as the Pakistani Taliban, admits that several of his cousins are high-ups in the Taliban. Yet he bears them no ill-will. “We are all Mehsud,” he says, over a beer or two. “So long as one family earns, the rest can eat,” said another South Waziristani, explaining the advantages of thus spreading political bets.

The problem here is that CNN, WaPo don't have access to Tribal areas, they rely on local media feeds however Farhat Taj does. And Ms Taj is reporting that the media reports coming from those areas are biased and concocted. And now the Pak Army has said that it will not launch any new offensive.

The real problem lies in the sad state of education in Pakistan , in every country the rank and file of the security forces come form the poorer sections of society the ones that cannot afford to send their wards to expensive schools. In India this gap is filled by an ever improving network of government funded and run schools some of which especially in states like Bengal and Kerala are actually very good when it come to quality of education. In Pakistan this gap is filled up by schools funded by mydraid masjids and organisations like the JuD ; in itself also religious schooling is not a problem the problem is that much of this religious schooling in Pakistan has now become radicalized and hence the students passing out of these institutions are at the very least partly radicalized. Also the Pakistani armyman is indoctrinated to be a soldier of allah fighting the kafirs in India his birthright; sometimes both these factors coincide to seriously radicalize an individual. incidents such as the paramilitary personnel supporting terror only stand to increase i am afraid.
