ISLAMABAD: Frontline units of Pakistan Navy have been equipped with the C-602 anti-ship cruise missiles purchased from China, according to Kanwa Defense Review published by Andrei Chang, also known as Pinkov, a Canadian military analyst.

Pakistan ordered about 120 C-602 anti-ship cruise missiles from China back in 2009. The first batch of the missiles, enough to equip a company, were delivered in 2011. After personnel completed training on using the missiles, the Pakistani government said that the C-602s had already been deployed by frontline naval units. The missiles were purchased to provide a countermeasure to India’s BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, which has a range of 290 kilometres.

The anti-ship cruise missiles have an estimated range of 280 km with a speed of 0.8 mach. The Kanwa Review said that the accuracy of the C-602 can be increased gradually if a deal is made between the two countries. Pakistan is currently the only foreign operator of the C-602.

Porks bought some 120 C 602 and rename it to some retard name Zaarb.Dumbasses never heard of Barak 8 which has active seeker and developed for shooting down supersonic Brahmos/Yakhont and Onyx let alone subsonic c 602.

@Dazzler @Zarvan you have 16 patents for year 2015 while India filed 3400 yet you shameless buffoons claim it indigenous.

In any case, we have this coastal defence system for years and when time comes this Zaarb will be first to knock out followed by destruction of Pork Navy and Karanchi Port like 1971 when 1/3 Pork navy destroyed by few Osa Missile Boat.

Deployment of a new system, even though not cutting edge, should not be dismissed off casually.

This system definitely complicates the planning process for IN. Ships without PDMS such as the Khukri and Veer classes may not be employed till the coastal battery is taken out.

No, because it is C602. Local branding of Chinese weapons is a forte of pakistan.

C 602, an export version of Chinese subsonic missile YJ-62 has a range of 280 to 300 km at speeds reaching 0.6 mach.

A good air defence can tackle such missiles easily, but still Chinese building up pak capabilities on cheap should be worrying.

First of all you Indians in your blind hatred keep proving yourself fools. People till now no picture of ZAARB has been released. Every thing till now is speculation. Secondly Missiles are successful at first test because we work hard on the missile before testing. India firing Russian Missiles and calling them indigenous should be the last one to lecture others.

I have never heard any Pakistani missile test failure... so is it fair to say the Pakistanis test Chinese missiles and call as theirs ??

Where is Indians have many missile failures... so if those were Russian then there would not be any test failures...

Does this mean the missile is inaccurate? Pakistan has become a Chinese guinea pig for reversed engineered weapons (flops)

if i were the Indian navy i would not take this lightly
PAINTED JOB or not the C-602/YJ-62 sub-sonic cruise missile fielded in large numbers is gonna pose a problem.

yes we got barak 8 barak 1.

but it would be foolish to sit back back on our asses and assume that not even 1 C-602/YJ-62 is gonna penetrate our defenses .

reality is sub sonic cruise missiles flying at very low altitudes is very difficult to pick up against the sea clutter.
they suddenly pop up from below the horizon to execute terminal maneuvers, imagine 4-6 missile in a salvo mode.

this is when things are going to heat up and test our real defensive capabilities.

this is reason why Indian navy is advocating for a quick reaction point defense missile system like maitri , to tackle the problem of sea skimming missiles like C-602/YJ-62 and later the YJ-18 which is a Chinese copy of the 3M54E Klub.

barak 8 can engage target as close as 500 meters but still it cannot be considered foolproof against a salvo of sea-skimming missiles flying only 5 to 10 meters above the wave tops during terminal attack phase, due to the extremely noisy background radar clutter encountered at very close ranges.

military preparation is mostly based on worst case scenarios so that we are trained for any scenario. :shoot:

we still need a dedicated standalone point defense system to destroy any leakers and to counter future purchase of YJ-18 by the porkies.

also these C-602/YJ-62 can be put to land attack roles or simply to overwhelm our air defense networks .
possibilities are many.
100s of these Chinese knock offs at raddi prices in the possession of porkies is surely a concern.

i want to kick the congressi assholes who rejected the offer of TU22 production in india. imagine 60 of these TU22M3 bombers launching salvos to destroy these porki missile clusters from stand off distance at will and with impunity .:cowboy:
