Lahore: Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has admitted in an interview that Islamabad supported and trained groups like the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in the 1990s to carry out militancy in Kashmir. The former army chief has also said that Lashkar leaders like Hafiz Saeed and Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi enjoyed the status of heroes at that time.

Speaking to Pakistani news channel Dunya News on Sunday, Mr Musharraf said, "In the 1990s, the freedom struggle began in Kashmir...At that time, Lashkar-e- Taiba and 11 or 12 other organisations were formed. We supported them and trained them as they were fighting in Kashmir at the cost of their lives."

He was responding to a question about action against 2008 Mumbai attack masterminds Saeed and Lakhvi. Saeed is among India's most wanted men and roams free in Pakistan, often making provocative anti-India speeches. Lakhvi and six other accused are facing trial for planning and executing the attack on November 26, 2008 that left 166 people dead. But he was granted bail by a Pakistani court earlier this year, triggering a strong protest from India.

"The Kashmiri freedom fighters including Hafiz Saeed and Lakhvi were our heroes at that time. Later on, the religious militancy turned into terrorism. Now they (referring to terrorists in Pakistan) are killing their own people here and this should be controlled and stopped," he said.

When asked whether Saeed and Lakhvi should also be "controlled and stopped", Mr Musharraf said: "No comments."

Mr Musharraf also said that "religious militancy" was started by Pakistan which brought militants from all over the world to fight against Soviet forces.

"We trained Taliban and sent them to fight against Russia. Taliban, Haqqani, Osama Bin Laden and Zawahiri were our heroes then. Later they became villains," he said, adding that people need to understand the whole environment at that time.

Note how clearly he mentions that Saeed and Lakhvi are or were a part of LeT. And that they were heroes.

What's the use of revealing this news?

Terror state Pakistan is not going to take any action against their own grown terrorists.

Musharraf is concerned about homegrown terrorists biting back Pakis on their own turf.

But then :
When asked whether Saeed and Lakhvi should also be "controlled and stopped", Mr Musharraf said: "No comments."
The reason why Pakis will never ever act against Saeed or Lakhvi is because they are enablers and continue to sustain low intensity war against India.

In fact, the Paki Punjab govt has increased security cover for the 26/11 planner Hafiz Saeed because of potential attempts on his worthless life.

Hafiz Saeed's security enhanced in Pak after 'threat alert'
PTI | Oct 27, 2015, 05.04 PM IST

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/...k-after-threat-alert/articleshow/49553334.cms

LAHORE: Pakistan's Punjab province government has enhanced the security of Mumbai attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed following a home department alert that a "foreign intelligence agency" may make an attempt on JuD chief's life.

"We have enhanced the security of Hafiz Saeed in accordance with the directive of the home department," an official of the Punjab government told PTI on Tuesday.

So there goes the bullshit theory that Pakis who are victims of terrorism just like India want to fight terrorism as much as India does and both should engage and constructively work together to root out "terrorism".

BKl why do you cry a Indus when RAW supports TTP and Uzbek (allegedly).

Incompetent Paki Army should learn from India how to crush terrorism from thousands of terrorists in 90s including afghan and chechens now reduced to 300 ~ active terrorists.

National Security Adviser Ajit Doval took a dig at General Musharraf's statement saying, "Jaise hero honge, waise hi log honge" (people will always be like their heroes).

When asked about it, Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit did not respond and merely said, "I will talk about these issues later."

Truth has Finally Come Out: India Reacts on Pervez Musharraf's Remark

New Delhi: Political parties and security experts on Wednesday reacted sharply to former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf acknowledging that his country supported and trained terror groups like Laskhar-e-Taiba (LeT) saying the truth is finally out and demanded that wanted terrorists be handed over to India.

Both BJP and Congress came together in attacking Pakistan for aiding terrorists against India after General Musharraf's statement.

Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said, "For a change he spoke the truth... If they at all are really interested in fighting terror, sometimes they should also raise voice... They should really make these people available to India because they have committed heinous crimes here."

He said now that the former Pakistani president has made very clear that they have given support to Dawood Ibrahim and given shelter earlier, "Pakistan understands responsibility and should hand over Dawood and other people who all are required in India."

National Security Adviser Ajit Doval took a dig at General Musharraf's statement saying, "Jaise hero honge, waise hi log honge" (people will always be like their heroes).

Former Indian Army chief VP Malik said the truth has come out now that how Musharraf was trying to deceive people both within and outside his country.

Army's retired Maj Gen GD Bakshi said there is official sanction to whatever the former Pakistan President has said and termed his statement as a "bland admission that Pakistan raised and trained the Taliban".

BJP national secretary Shrikant Sharma said Pakistan has been exposed after the revelations and the party's stand towards Pakistan also stood vindicated that it has established terror factories against India.

Congress leader Pramod Tiwari said after General Musharraf's statement on Osama bin Laden and terror outfits, it is clear that Pakistan is the home of terrorism.

This was my point. Now that they have admitted openly, we can criticize them openly. No need for proofs at UN and USA anymore. Just show them this interview. This is perhaps one of the most embarrassing situations for pakis.

Bakis have no shame!

I will not be surprised if Paki members on DFI will deny all these things.

Entire Pakistan will question on authenticity of Mushi's statements, they will call him a beghairat, perpetrator or Mushi will retract his statement saying that, it was not what he was intended to tell.

Whole world knows where Osama was hiding.

It's not a secret that Pakistan's main export is terrorism. Sending jihadi Abduls across the border to India who along with Pak army seem to have self assumed the role of "soldiers of Allah" in a "holy war" is a major industry over there.

What is interesting is the timing of Musharaf's statement.

Just when Pakis were gloating about handing "dossiers on Indian terrorism" to UN and all that, the General reveals Paki's confirmed support on terrorism.

Self-preservation? Greed? Who knows? But bazaru nations with bazaru Generals are always vulnerable to being sold to highest bidder. :)

Of course. It doesn't surprise me at all that our fellow paki members haven't commented on this yet.

LeT was not blacklisted by USA in the nineties.
IIRC it was banned in December 2003.

Btw, quite rich to blame Pakistan when India is doing the same.

Indian Defense Minister admits to supporting terrorists in Pakistan, vows ‘to neutralize terrorists through terrorists ’

"Should do it" and "have done it". Big freaking difference.

You need to really step up your game of false equivalence.

The minister's context was of tit for tat to defend territorial integrity, dear Paki.

While you people on the other hand use terrorism as a state sponsored low cost tool to inflict damage to India and gain territory because symmetric warfare is out of your reach.

Try harder to fool people here and make sure not to quote Paki news headlines which twist statements to satisfy the agenda of ISI or whoever that runs the train wreck of a nation called Pakistan.

I believe it's the Indian media obsessed with Pakistan, not the other way around. We support freedom struggle in Kashmir and will continue to do that.
India used the 9/11 attack with her own agenda to kill homegrown and foreign supprted insurgency in Kashmir.
Stop fooling people, the world knows the truth about you too.

Last Human Rights Conference in Geneva was an eye opener. The world came to know about 10.000's of missing people in India and unreported mass graves...

A big LOL. 9/11 attacks also had India in it?

Here's a suggestion : Read some international news. Look at the reactions your PM gets to claims on India supporting terrorism.

Then, look at the reactions that Indian PM gets on Paki terrorism claims.

BTW, where was Osama last found?

Stop embarrassing yourself using big words like Human Rights, seriously. Or not.

Here is what happened to Pakistan today :

Pakistan loses UN Human Rights Council re-election
http://www.dnaindia.com/world/report-pakistan-loses-un-human-rights-council-re-election-2139686

Pakistan on Wednesday failed to win a re-election to the United Nations' human rights body. The 193-member General Assembly voted here to elect 18 new members of the UN Human Rights Council. Sources said the loss came as a huge shock to the Pakistani delegation that had appeared confident of winning the seat.

Days before the vote, human rights bodies had opposed the re-election of Venezuela, Pakistan and the UAE to the UN Human Rights Council due to widespread criticism of these governments for egregious human rights violations.

According to a report by UN Watch, Human Rights Foundations, and the Lantos Foundation, Pakistan, the UAE, Burundi and Ecuador were cited by human rights groups for having committed serious violations of numerous articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, including curbs on the freedoms of speech, press, religion, and assembly, along with disregard for fundamental due process.

The candidate countries were also found to have voted against UN resolutions taking action for victims of human rights abuses in various hotspots, UN watch said.
