After a long gap, Pakistan seems to be upping the ante in the Saurashtra-Kutch region of Gujarat. There have been reports that Pakistan has developed an airbase along the Gujarat border.

The country has developed a modern airfield in Bholari for military aircraft operations close to the border with India in the Hyderabad district of Pakistan's Sindh province. The Pakistan Air Force is going to deploy its fleet of Chinese JF-17 fighters here.

"Though the airfield has been in existence for some time now, activities like intensive flying of combat aircraft is a recent phenomenon," sources told IndiaToday.in. The Pakistani Air Force is inducting a large number of JF-17s from China to match the Indian Air Force capabilities on its eastern front.

Pakistan's Special Service Group (Navy) commandos are also based in the vicinity of the Hyderabad base and have been known for training Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists for carrying out attacks using the sea route.

Following the rapid development on the Pakistan side, the Cabinet Committee on Security headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already cleared the setting up of a forward fighter base in Deesa, Gujarat.

The airfield will plug the air gaps on the border but will take at least three to four years to extend the runway, construct fighter pens and other infrastructure.

Dont worry as far as we r concerned It will be good for IAF to practice duck hunting....JF 17 is a piece of shit as far as India is concerned. However IAF will do its due diligence to ensure that base is neutralized or rather convert it into an asset on enemy territory through which we can establish complete control on ur failed country.

The question should be which birds will IAF deploy at it's new air base under construction in Gujarat to counter Pakistani JF17s.

The logical answer is Tejas, or perhaps Falcrums. But Pakistan may see this as opportunity to shoot at IAF planes and call the JF-17 super fighter jet. Remember what happened with Atlantique? They may look for an opportunity to do the same to India. Easier said than done. I'm calling this. But still need more information. The base is still a good distance away from the border, so its not ideal for interception but perhaps its more for offense.

I have doubt, its not correct info that they have deployed jf17. They have rather deployed the F16s, PAF No 19 Sqn is stationed there and has dedicated F-16 block 52 not JF17s there. Because deploying jf17 does not solve the purpose of having that base. JF17 could be there but not the main fighter deployed.

Next indo Pak war will be started by india. And india will go for preemptive strikes and will involve this base as it is very close to Reliance jamnagar refinery so india will use everything be it brahmos, su30mki, tactical nukes, to destroy it completely. So porki strategy is already fucked up....:)

What is the readiness level of their f 16 fleet at the moment? I heard they are having troubles with spares.
Their readiness is purely dependent on what the US wants it to be. If the US is having troubles with India on trade issues and other global matters (viz Russia), they make their disappointment known by speeding up their delivery of spares to Pakistan. If a major trade is to be negotiated between the US and India, or a highly visible meeting of heads of state, they defer delivery of spares by 6 months. After the fanfare settles, the spares start arriving.

75 percent or more of the f-16 are unoperational. AWACS and s-400 will make
It very hard to get anywhere near the border.. Why didn't Pakistan use f-16 in Kargil?

Pakistan had the intelligence input that IA will push in to cut off Karachi from rest of the Pak via National Highway. So to thwart IA incursion and support the PNS they filled the gap between Karachi and Jacobad Air base by constructing Bholari AFB. As per the design of the base it can accommodate 3 SQNs along with UAV and other logistic support.

So I will say '''Oooh PAF agaya! Let's return back!' . Nonsense this is just target practice for IAF.
