Given the green light to sue the Saudi government for its alleged role in the 9/11 attacks, the American people may soon use that right to file suits against Pakistan, as well.

US lawmakers made the controversial decision last month to overturn President Barack Obama’s veto of the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act (JASTA). The legislation allows the families of 9/11 victims to sue foreign governments that could played some role in the attacks.

Congress Throws Obama Under Saudi Bus: How Riyadh Will Respond to the 9/11 Bill

While the primary focus of the law has been Saudi Arabia, JASTA has also worried the government of Pakistan.

"We have noted with concern the overturning of the US presidential veto on JASTA, a law passed by US Congress aimed at targeting sovereign states," Pakistan’s Foreign Office said in a statement, according to the India Times.

"Many countries across Europe and in the Middle East have also expressed similar concern."

Speaking before the United Nations General Assembly last month, Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif offered similar criticism. He stressed that terrorism is "a global phenomenon," and added that "efforts should be taken collectively and not unilaterally by the passage of any laws with extra-territorial application."

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are close allies, and Riyadh fought vociferously against JASTA before its passing.

Pandora's Box: 9/11 Bill Will Cause 'Avalanche of Lawsuits' Against US

"The erosion of sovereign immunity will have a negative impact on all nations, including the United States," the kingdom said in a statement, adding that it hoped the US would work "to avoid the serious unintended consequences that may ensue."
The law could also have the reverse effect, allowing foreign nationals to sue the US government for its own actions abroad — the basis for President Obama’s objections to it.

The lobbying group Arab Project in Iraq “sees their opportunity to ask for compensation from the United States over violations by the US forces following the US invasion that saw the toppling of late President Saddam Hussein in 2003,” the Al-Arabiya news channel reported earlier this month.

"It urged for a full-fledged investigation over the killing of civilian targets, loss of properties and individuals who suffered torture and other mistreatment on the hand of US forces."

.......................
JASTA is not 9/11 specific. ***rubbing hands in glee***. More on JASTA later.

The possibilities of the reach of this act appear to be endless when applied to pakistan:
- all American military personnel killed by taliban
- American civil and aid personnel killed
- and 26/11

As I read it all American victims of paki sponsored terrorism can sue the paki government. It will be through the legal process in the US but evidence is abundant.

Starting a new thread - because this might turn out to be long drawn.

It applies to a US national or property.

From wiki:
It amends the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act and the Anti-Terrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act in regards to civil claims against a foreign state for injuries, death, or damages from an act of international terrorism. Previously, U.S. nationals were permitted to sue a foreign state if such state was designated as a state sponsor of terrorism by the United States Department of State and if they were harmed by that state's aid for one's international terrorism.
JASTA authorizes federal courts to exercise personal jurisdiction over any foreign state's support for one's act of international terrorism against a U.S. national or property regardless if such state is designated as a state sponsor of terrorism or not.
The bill passed the Senate with no opposition in May 2016 and, in September 2016, was unanimously passed by theHouse of Representatives.
While the law does not mention the September 11 attacks or the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.....

This could snowball into something huge.

It’s official: The U.S. is the world's prominent extremist state, and delighted of it.

Funding and delivering arms to an insurrection in a country that actually worked out well. And they couldn't come up with much.” So Obama has some disinclination about continuing such efforts.

Whether or not the world ever beheld the United States, how far it has fallen in the eyes of the world, having become under the government of Bush and Obama the most despised country on Earth except for Israel.

The bout on the Twin Towers was not the work of Arabs but rather was the work of terrorists within the U.S. government itself who pursue to gain regulator of Central Asian and Middle Eastern oil and to execute a fascist autocracy not only upon the United States but also upon the entire world.

America is now reviled it is because of its long-standing and insufferable meddling and control of other countries and its destitution of the people of those countries.

These Americans haven't even shaken a leg over the 6 American nationals killed in the Mumbai attacks. Will they sue the Porkis for this? But Pakistan will say that it was an inside job by the RAW like always!

This nanha jihadi thinks that having joint exercises with a country means being allowed to become their slaves like Pakistan is of China right now.

Porkis and their delusions from alternate universes are very entertaining and highly enjoyable.

Cheers Pork Chop.

The big difference this time around is that the American citizens can now sue. In the david headley saga it was the American government that was the prosecutor and obviously that whole thing was a sham, covering up the pakis even in the face of blatant confessions. Men have been sentenced to death for much less in the US. But now the American families can sue the pakis privately through this act. It will be interesting to see how it unfolds.
