Pak suffers heavy casualties as govt gives troops free hand - The Times of India

NEW DELHI: Government has given full backing to border forces to go on the offensive in the event of unprovoked firing from Pakistan along the Indo-Pak border. The result is that border forces have pulled out all stops and gone for targeted and precision firing which has led to far more casualties on Pakistan side in just 10 days of firing this year than was witnessed in 30 days of skirmishes last year in August.

As many as eight people, including soldiers, LeT terrorists and civilians, have been killed in Pakistan and over two dozen injured in the firings that began on August 16 this year. On the Indian side, however, there have been only two casualties — of civilians. All these incidents have taken place on the International Border in Jammu guarded by BSF.

A total of 12 Indian soldiers were killed through 2013 by Pakistan forces. This year there has been only one casualty — of a BSF jawan — due to sniper firing a month ago.

"Ever since mid-August ceasefire violations, we have gone on complete offensive, firing both guns and area weapons. We are thrice in strength of Pakistan Rangers and thus have as many weapons. This has resulted in heavy casualties on the other side even though Pakistan Rangers are being supported by their Army. We will continue to retaliate fiercely until Pakistan stops firing," said a senior BSF officer.

BSF sources said Islamabad has also deployed Pakistan Army's 12 Mujahideen Battallion in Charwa sector to help Pakistan Rangers.

At a meeting held at Home Ministry with minister Rajnath Singh, NSA Ajit Doval and BSF DG DK Pathak among others discussed the issue of escalating tension on the Indo-Pak border. Sources said government is fully backing all action taken by BSF and asked it to ensure safety of civilians in border areas. Pathak said, "We are giving befitting reply to ceasefire violations from Pakistan. At the same time we are trying not to hit civilian areas in Pakistan."

The force has been forcing villagers in border areas out of the range of Pakistan bullets and shells during the night. "We are making them sleep in schools and other government buildings away from their homes. During the day they return to their daily chores in their villages as most of the firing takes place at night," said a BSF officer.

The August offensive of 2013 had begun after Pakistan forces had killed five Indian soldiers patrolling the border. The killing had followed the January beheading of an Indian armyman leading to nationwide outrage. Forces of the two countries exchanged bullets for the whole month before an understanding was reached in September.

Pakistan deserves much more fierce reaction. If anybody fires at us then he needs to be fired back upon with an intent to kill. So far Pakistani casualities are light, but a much bigger targetted response should kill more terrorists and soldiers. Civilians are to be evacuated to save them from the crossfire.

They have started firing again.... As soon as the flag meet got over, within hours they started firing again.....

I think we have to make use of MBRLS and Heavy artillery firing and shut them down once and for all.....

We have to call the bluff of peace talks and stop the buck by ending Kashmir issue once and for all by the means of force and pakistan only understands the language of force.....

The nuclear threat is just a threat and not reality if a scenario arises India shall destroy the targets(nuclear warheads of pakistan)....

Pakistanis will never learn anything. they are least bothered about peace and prosperity within Pak. They are going through political turmoil, Terrorist attacks, economic disasters but they never stop to fire at Indian posts. Even they have employed regular Pak soldiers to infiltrate into India as terrorists. What less can anyone expect from a failed state? India must seal the Pak borders with more deployments and have an aggressive policy towards POK. The villages along border areas should be shifted as these villages often shelter infiltrators in Kashmir.

Even after Flag meet, they have started firing. They dont care about their people's lives, why should we do? We must employ the cold start doctrine as soon as possible, but not till our Ballistic Missile Defence system is ready. When will it get ready?

There is no need to fear of pakistan's nuclear missiles as it will take days to gather the different parts and assemble them and fuel them and then launch. The need of the hour is to find the nuclear warheads and destroy them. RAW and IB must be planning this for a long time and it is high time that we get rid of the nuclear warheads.

Does that remind you of what the Israeli's had to deal with when 'talking' to hamas. They are shameless turds.

As soon as the Indian Forces were given a free hand, flag meeting happened and firing stop!

Power grow out of the barrel of a gun?
sir, but after meeting there was again firing.

i think they need bigger barrels giving out more power.

Well, thats true. We already have S300 which can take care for Pakistan missiles easily. India is already thinking of getting another BMD , Most likely it would be S400 .

Pak violates ceasefire again, targets three BSF posts hours after flag meet
Pak violates ceasefire again, targets three BSF posts hours after flag meet

==============

Someone is asking for it again.

But, what I am really surprised, is the 'peacenik' attitude of Indian authorities. When it was clearly stated that Pakistan didn't respond to flag meeting 16 times, what was the urgency to accept Pakistan's call for flag meeting in the first instance that too in Akhnoor sector, which didn't see ceasefire violation which was talking place in RSpura sector.

I think I read somewhere that this was done as per a directive from UN. I could be wrong about the UN directive's timing, but it could have been the reason for the flag march.

Pakistan Army does not understand anything unless its get a kick in its butt ' Hard ' ..

Its best to bring out 155mm at point blank just like in Kargil along with Rudras ..
Upto my knowledge, heavy howitzer are restricted to use near border according to indo-pak pact. Isn't it?
And need permission of high level authority( perhaps major-general) to send howitzers near the border.

If we send 155 howitzer to border...................... thats mean our higher authority give order them. And could lead to think that we started war..........??????
