Lahore: The governor of Pakistan's Punjab province resigned today just days after slamming the Nawaz Sharif government for its "diplomatic failure" to build ties with the US after President Barack Obama's historic second visit to India. Punjab Governor Mohammad Sarwar had severely criticised the government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for its failure to bring the US president to Pakistan. "Obama's visit to India is a failure of the Pakistan government. The second visit of Obama to India is Pakistan's big failure on foreign affairs front as it should have arranged his visit to Pakistan," Sarwar said in his statement after Obama's trip to India. Obama's unprecedented second visit to India recently has echoed heavily in Pakistan, a Cold War- era ally of the US. Government sources said that the criticism by Sarwar had disturbed Sharif who demanded an explanation but instead the governor chose to resign. Sarwar handed over his resignation to President Mamnoon Hussain last night, which has been accepted. Punjab Assembly Speaker Rana Iqbal will serve as acting governor pending a new appointment by the federal government. Sarwar on Tuesday had said that it was a "diplomatic failure of Pakistan that US President Obama visited India and signed the all- important civil nuclear deal". He also criticised Obama for failing to give equal importance to India and Pakistan and not using the opportunity to reduce tensions between the two rivals. Sarwar became governor after renouncing his citizenship of the UK where he had settled several years ago to become a successful businessman and was the first Muslim lawmaker in the British parliament.

common man give some chance to the ganja nasharif, he has a tough job governing a country like pakistan.

the biggest dilemma he has now is to bow before demands of US and get alms by begging. If he does so his people will say what a spineless leader begging to US!! and if he doesn't beg the above situation happens.

vichitra dharmsankat hai bhai.

Re: Pak Punjab Governor quits after blasting govt on Obama's India tri

The headline is not apt it seems, Obama's India visit has nothing to do anything with Pakistan.

The real issue seems this one

Shujat criticises Shahbaz's government for massive corruption | Pakistan Today

Without the co-operation of the opposition, governmental affairs could not be run smoothly, said Pakistan Muslim League President Shujat Hussain while talking to journalists after meeting with Pakistan Peoples' Party Punjab President Manzoor Wattoo, who paid return visit to the PML chief on behalf of PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, who is in London at present.

Shujat castigated the Punjab government for dropping the various peoples' welfare projects started during the government of Pervaiz Elahi simply because such projects were inaugurated by the former chief minister of Punjab.

He appreciated the successful visits of the army chief to USA, Saudi Arabia, UK and China. He said that he visited the IDP camps being run by the army and pleasantly, the impression was quite opposite what the media had been projecting.

There seems to be some friction in the administration.
