Damen launches second of two 2,300-ton corvettes for Pakistan Navy
Dutch shipbuilder Damen has launched the second of two 2,300-ton corvettes on order for the Pakistan Navy (PN) at its facilities in Galati, Romania.
The PN announced on its Facebook page that the vessel (with pennant number 272) entered the water on 3 September in a ceremony attended by PN Chief of Staff (Personnel) Vice Admiral Ather Mukhtar, among others.
The contract for the two platforms, which the PN has also referred to as offshore patrol vessels (OPVs), was signed in June 2017. The first ship, which was launched at the same shipyard on 17 May, is expected to enter service by the end of 2019, and the second one is set to be delivered by mid-2020, according to the navy.
Vice Adm Mukhtar was quoted as saying during the ceremony that the vessels "will act as force multipliers in enhancing [the] navy's capability of safeguarding maritime frontiers and will offer more flexibility in the conduct of [the] Pakistan Navy's initiative of independent Regional Maritime Security Patrols in the Indian Ocean Region".
Don't you think it will be over kill for using Brahmos on Pakistan Namy ?Lol, one brahmos away from becoming a brand new coral reef.

That was just the most recent news. I agree nothing significant, but even these can be fit to light frigate specs with missiles.Lol, one brahmos away from becoming a brand new coral reef.
Yeah yuan class Submarine are something dangerous for us. Plus we can except some free gifts to Pakistan from China. That was just the most recent news. I agree nothing significant, but even these can be fit to light frigate specs with missiles.
Anyhow, what you should worry more about is
4 type 054AP (2023)
8 Yuan AIP(2028)
with existing
6 Zulfikar(053H3),
3 AIP agosta.
For a short coastline of 1000 km like Pakistan's, that is a lot of capability.
Most will be taken care by IAF maritime jaguars with AESA & harpoons & P8i equipped with harpoons & SU30s with brahmos ,at the time of war IN main objective would be to finish PN and mount a blockade, first our missile boats & corvette the nashaks & khanjars and then aggressive ASW ops by P8i as well as surface and submarine ships and then the big daddy CBGs Vikrant and Vikramaditya,it would be glorious ,we should not worry about Yuan class ,IN has repeatedly spotted it and probably has its acoustic signature in the threat library and with Brahmos coastal batteries also on order we would also kill any paki navy fidayeen attacks on our portsThat was just the most recent news. Wow man, it seems you'd win against PN using optimism alone.!Most will be taken care by IAF maritime jaguars with AESA & harpoons & P8i equipped with harpoons & SU30s with brahmos ,at the time of war IN main objective would be to finish PN and mount a blockade, first our missile boats & corvette the nashaks & khanjars and then aggressive ASW ops by P8i as well as surface and submarine ships and then the big daddy CBGs Vikrant and Vikramaditya,it would be glorious ,we should not worry about Yuan class ,IN has repeatedly spotted it and probably has its acoustic signature in the threat library and with Brahmos coastal batteries also on order we would also kill any paki navy fidayeen attacks on our ports
No offense, but PN has been operating Agosta 90B AIP for close to 2 decades now while IN will get 1st AIP in 5th Kalvari. But, it will be some time after acquiring the platform that PN will be able to fully utilize the capabilities of the Yuan Subs or Type 54 frigates.
Unless 3 AIP submarines can produce 3x set of all officers involved in quick time. And having AIP is just having one edge over others in terms of endurance. No offense, but PN has been operating Agosta 90B AIP for close to 2 decades now while IN will get 1st AIP in 5th Kalvari.
So its fair to assume that they will have an edge over IN in defining mission profile and tactics to exploit its advantages just due to extra time they've had to work with it.
Jaguar already had 2032 before ,DARIN 3 afier it will get 2052 AESA and paki southern air command have a mix of JF17 and F16s in very absymal numbers mostly centered around Karachi and in comparison to IAF southern Western HQ in Gandhinagar has healthy mix of Mig21 bisons,Mig29 UPG ,SU30s and Maritime jaguars which could take easily on them as well as Barak8 equipped destroyers and frigates which are grave threat to underpowered blunders ,as far as PN subs are concerned,if you are looking at 2028 scenario then IN would have 22 P8i ,4 kamorta class ASW corvette and as well shallow craft ASW,AIP has its benefits but you can be under so long as far as month or until food runs out ,these are not SSBN which are real threats ,they will become real threats if they are in Indian coastal waters which shallow water craft ASW will take care of,if you are looking at 2028 scenario then IN position would be of absolute superiority with new inductions of Vizag class destroyers, nilgiri class,NGM boats and shallow water craft ASW as well numbers shored in Talwar class frigates and hopefully P75i programme and very important movement on SSN programme and S4 & S4* SSBNs, pakis are following a plan which a small enemy follow ,which is of sea denial and who does sea denial better then a submarine but IN follows the Sea control theory which mandates very aggressive posture and so shall we see ,if we are lucky the annihilation of paki navy if war is thrust upon us.Wow man, it seems you'd win against PN using optimism alone.!
For using P8I, entire airspace where it operates will have to be sanitized, meaning all squadrons of PAF along the coast must be crushed. Deploying IAF fighters( assuming CBG airwings will not be adequate) 100s of kms inside pak airspace to take out entire squadrons seems dangerous at least.
Surface ships may be taken out by extended anti shipping campaign by MKI, CBG or ship based AShM, but that won't make it any easier to dominate 11 strong AIP enabled boats when they're playing defensive.
I do think this entire posturing is being done by PN to avoid blockade or attacks like karachi 1971. But the scale on which integration is required to enforce a blockade like this is unprecedented for IN, considering the increased capabilities of PN in that time frame (2028+).
Also, jaguar doesn't have an AESA, it has 2032J after DARIN 3.
Cross posting from BRF.Jaguar already had 2032 before ,DARIN 3 afier it will get 2052 AESA
Hmm, well, Brahmos in salvo. Problem solved, we'll be sipping tea in Karachi.Anyhow, what you should worry more about is

Sounds too close to pak army soldiers saying breakfast in jodhpur and dinner in delhi during longewala in 1971Hmm, well, Brahmos in salvo. Problem solved, we'll be sipping tea in Karachi.
Does anyone know when the 1st one is slated to arrive? ( First 4 were said to be put into service by 2023 )View attachment 38996
