Infiltration bid by boat foiled by BSF near Kutch
TNN 27 December 2009, 05:51am IST
AHMEDABAD: Border Security Force personnel along the Kutch border have gone into high alert after two Pakistani boats with armed occupants, made yet another attempt to infiltrate into India from Harami Nala area near Sir Creek. The attempt took place at about 12.30 am on Saturday. The Harami Nala is a sluggish and shallow water channel, spread over 500 sq km near the Pakistan border.
Officials are taking the incident seriously as BSF personnel and the intruders exchanged fire for nearly three hours before the boats turned around.
According to officials, the armed men were tenacious and were familiar with the hostile terrain. No fish was ever caught with a gun, officials add. Besides, no fisherman would risk his life in this sensitive area in the middle of the night given the increased security here.
Significantly, in the last two months, this is the third incident where armed men have tried to infiltrate through Harami Nala.
On November 13 this year, BSF had fired to foil intrusion bid by seven Pakistani boats which were trying to enter India from near Harami Nala. Nearly 500 rounds were fired then.
