NGHAS Next Generation Hardened Air Shelters

The existing HAS were meant to accomodate Mig-21s and smaller planes. So they can't accomodate Sukhois

2015: News trickles in about plans for NGHAS to accomodate Sukhois
https://www.defenseworld.net/news/1...e_Shelters__Parliamentary_Report#.XRW8LugzbIU

2019: NGHAS approved. But just 110 to be spread across India

DRDO HAS (No idea if same as NGHAS)

At all airbases across India you can see new HAS(even before NGHAS approved) being built since last two/three years . These HAS seem wide enough to accommodate Su-30s. They resemble the DRDO HAS in above picture.

Each airbase has just two of these. So not meant to accommodate entire squadron.

Su-30 are 22m long and 15m wide.
New HAS seem to be 30mx18m

In NE region both HAS are build side by side. NE regions lack HAS for even normal Migs or have open blast pens. Western bases are crowded with little room for expansion.

Interestingly these new HAS can be found at even faraway bases even in South India.

A good writeup on HAS and how HAS have been made ineffective by modern PGM/Cruise Missiles.
https://www.ausairpower.net/APA-2008-02.html

So even before NGHAS starts we have been building HAS to accommodate Sukhois albeit at much smaller scale. In all not more than 30-40 such new HAS at present exist.

One such finished HAS with camouflage facing China.

Its inside an Army area :biggrin2: I have been to that place, but at that time no such thing was present. Its recent development.

You can see the helipad close.
I think it's a shed for special train --- as there are special weapons nearby.

Chinese trying to give paki 2nd strike capability.
Does they really require these sophisticated facilities they can't even build screw on their own so forget about underwater systems. I am damn sure China is behind this proliferation.

PoK, Mangala Dam. Seems like a radar.
Could be a weather radar too. But that would be an unnecessary luxury for Pakistanis.
Cant be a mosque as it doesnt seem to have Minars and is located far away from residential areas. Dome doesnt have pointed end.

Mangala Dam also has a giraffe radar (something like below)

Goa Airport (Naval Air Base : Dabolim)

The construction of parallel taxiway is almost complete. This will allow them to handle more traffic as tourist passenger planes were facing lot of issues in the crowded military-civilian airport

MArch 2020

The channel has been widened and dredged.
So ships can come inside.

Good safety from Torpedoes and missiles. Since the mountain blocks straight hits

Cannot make out the much talked about underground submarine tunnels. But other tunnels for missile storage can be easily spotted
