Operation Green Hunt still on; 50 Naxals killed

A fierce gun battle is still going on between security forces and Naxals in Dantewada in Chhattisgarh. It is being reported as the biggest encounter so far with nearly 800 jawans involved in the operation.

As many as 50 Maoists are believed to have been killed in the operation that's called Green Hunt. According to sources 20 jawans are missing. The police said about 200 Naxals have been surrounded and seven Naxal bodies have been recovered.

The operation, a joint venture between the CoBRA force and state police began with the forces taking over an illegal arms manufacturing factory and Naxal camp near the forests near Singamadagu.

"Arms and ammunition from the spot have been recovered, including SLR gun and hand grenades," the Police Spokesperson further said.

In Chhattisgarh, extensive encounters against Naxals are planned and they come just days after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said not enough is being done to deal with the Naxal threat.

Mioist doesn't have the grievence. But poor people in remote parts have. Mioists are just capitalising the opportunity. Do you have any idea where they get so much arms and ammunitions from. If some elements want to break the country in thousand pieces they wont come to you and me to participate. Rather they will find people who have grievence, not for love to them but to fulfill their own dirty objectives.
