Talks are actually working in Manipur. Christians are not brain-dead like Muslims. In fact, Kukis want to show they are cooperative with the central govt. to get support for their separate state.

Going guns blazing at this stage will solidify it as the next Kashmir.
Whichever way you see it the NE is going to be in low simmer before breaking out into an explosion of violence every now & then , for as long as they're a part of India.

Too many xenophobic tribes with an Abrahamic religion which even otherwise is at odds with any other faith group or even with a separate denomination within the same religion to add to the differences. Add to that cousins separated by either internal boundaries or external ones.

So if it isn't the Kukis it could be the Nagas or the Zo or Mizos or the Khasis , etc

And then we have narrative spinners like this who're operating from their own ivory towers with their own idealistic lens on , conjuring up what they want you to think the situation on the ground is & the solutions to the problems .

For perspective most of the IPS officers in Manipur are non Meiteis in spite of the Meiteis constituting half the population there , a situation unique to Manipur completely in contrast to what it is in the other states of the NE , a fact which Clutterji knows of but trust him to share the information here or on any of the programs he's done /is doing / will do on the issue.

An injured eight-year-old boy was killed along with his mother and another relative when an ambulance with the three on board was waylaid by a mob and set ablaze in Manipur's West Imphal district, officials said.

The incident occurred at Iroisemba on Sunday evening when the boy was being taken to a hospital by his mother and their relative in Imphal after he sustained a bullet injury in his head during a shoot-out, they said.

The three have been identified as Tonsing Hangsing (8), his 45-year-old mother Meena Hangsing, and Lydia Lourembam, aged 37, the officials said.

A senior Assam Rifles officer confirmed the incident and said security has been beefed up in and around the camp where it happened.

Sources said Tonsing, the son of a tribal man, and his Meitei mother, were staying at an Assam Rifles relief camp at Kangchup. On June 4 evening, a gunfight started in the area, and despite being in the camp, he was hit by a bullet.

A senior Assam Rifles officer immediately spoke to police in Imphal and arranged for an ambulance.

Since the mother was from the majority community, a decision was taken to take the kid to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal by road, sources said. The ambulance was under Assam Rifles escort for a few kilometres, after which the local police took over.

"Around 6:30 pm, the ambulance was waylaid by civilians at Isoisemba and set ablaze. All three in the vehicle were killed. We still do not know where the bodies are," one of the sources added.

The Kangchup area has several Kuki villages and is on Kangpokpi district's border with Imphal West, close to the Meitei village of Phayeng. The area has been seeing heavy exchange of fire in the second wave of violence across the state since May 27.

Violent clashes broke out in the northeastern state after a Tribal Solidarity March' was organised in the hill districts on May 3 to protest against the Meitei community's demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status.

The clashes were preceded by tension over eviction of Kuki villagers from reserve forest land, which had led to a series of smaller agitations. Meiteis account for about 53 per cent of Manipur's population and live mostly in the Imphal Valley. Tribals Nagas and Kukis constitute another 40 per cent of the population and reside in the hill districts. PTI

Kuki Militants are infiltrating India from Myanmar in large numbers. Looking at the size of the Kuki militia they can easily target & out number Assam Rifle Jawans in patrol duty across Manipur.

This was the right time to have missile armed dornes & strike them while they were yiet to regroup & spread all across Manipur to target the Maitei.

Its a war being waged by China. and I think, its because of current deployment of IA at frontline, Gov/IA is feeling hard pressed to send in more reinforcements. China is also how state shall react of large scale volen ce within country. We need to send more central forces, otherwise it shall slowly effect whole NE, as China shall find willing partners do their bid in kukis and reignite instability in NE.

One way shall be to Arm the local meiti now. You dont need to practice secularism everywhere and esp in situations where one group is holding knife on your neck.

You don't need reinforcements.

Paramilitary force like Assam Rifles is enough. They are doing ops for several decades in that region.

Problem is central govt is giving kid gloves treatment to Christian Kuki seperatists.

Why? Because..

International media has already painted Modi and his govt as anti-christians.

In the end Mudi will choose his "image" over anything.

I doubt the Chinese are behind any of this though they'd start getting ideas now. The problem essentially is due to the inherent instability within Myanmar. If we need to solve this one way or another we need to be sitting down with the Tatmadaw .

Ethnic sentiments between Kuki and Meities was always present in Manipur

Mixed with Kukis involvement in illegal Opium business and and Meities owning only few percentage of land inside Manipur, this calamity was just waiting to strike.

You see there is been attempt to change the demography. It's already Kashmiri Pandit exodus redux of the Hindu Meities.

Lots of former Indian Army officers and also few members here in DFI were warning BJP govt against taking of Kuki refugees from Myanmar. Many said it will backfire and now it did.

Most Anti-Tatmadaw rebels has entered India under the disguise of refugees.

Govt of India should have backed the civilian govt of Aung Sung Su Ki just as the US had suggested at that time.

GoI has always opposed the influx of refugees into India from Myanmar especially since the latest coup d'etat. It's express instructions were ignored by the state government in Mizoram claiming ethnic kinship with the Chin tribes in Myanmar who were anti junta.

Now you have this situation developing in Manipur. Our hands are tied with respect to what's happening inside Myanmar . The last time we sided with Daw Aung San Syu Kyi , the Tatmadaw tilted towards the Chinese. However we're also facing the brunt given the internal developments there. I don't think the GoI war gamed the various problems we'd be faced with & our options once the chips were down or if we did then we didn't take it with the seriousness it deserved.

Either way , it's time the GoI prepared itself , draw red lines for both the Tatmadaw & the Myanmar rebels as well as their sympathizers here & keeps the powder dry .

We can't do anything about the rebels on this side but can certainly do it from the myanmar side.
Military regimes imo are prone to agreeing with you if you cough out the right price.
The junta isn't going anywhere so better we collaborate with who's incharge and flush out terrorists from myanmar side while simultaneously doing it from Indian side.
The junta does not need to care about human rights as much as we do they can gundown entire villages if they feel like it.

Tatmadaw are one of the smartest group in this region.

Their allegience doesn't lies with the Chinese fully as others speculate.

They take advantage from both the sides.
