We can keep away nato here, but PN is also modernising its fleet, they inducting new frigates. Definitely they will have some punch, they know what we are having and what tgey are going to face.
I am not telling that brahmos will be fooled, what i am saying is that brahmos can be fooled. Brahmos is not an invincible missile.
If you want to say it as invincible, you are free to prove it with technical paper not just by will, could be, you dont know anything tyoe blabbering. Logically speaking, brahmos seeker is a miniscule one if you compares it with that of frigate or destroyers.
Why don't you present technical papers?

You are the one who brought the fighter aircraft with two engine vs transport aircraft analogy here. So brought an illogical comparison and replied in that way.
I haven't seen one logical thing out of you yet.

Guys too much off topic discussion, narrative of the programme gets lost with this , important thing regarding nirbhay is it will get tested with indigenous propulsion system in coming months , speculated date was in month of April but china virus has complicated things ,MRSAM & BrahMos Test have been postponed, indigenous propulsion system will pave way for regiment orders by army ,on the other hand the naval version of Long Range Land Attack Cruise missile & Air launched version of Nirbhay will take time, for Naval version Long Range is the key as Navy can't use BrahMos as of low range of 500 km ,it will risk and take the bait of pakis sea denial tactics of using submarine and fighter jets in its near waters ,hence atleast 1500 to 2000 km Kaliber Class Cruise missiles ,for air launched it is much more easy than naval one as Air force has already integrated BrahMos on Su30s and the current range of 1000km is more than sufficient but DRDO will work to make it low observable by perfecting sea skimming and Tree top flight path and hovering over the target

So considering that the Nirbhay program is now closed, to be followed by LRLACM for Navy and ITCM for others, I am struggling to appreciate what we have learned or gained from this project. Anything to serve as building blocks for future land attack cruise missiles?

No TERCOM, PTAN or DSMAC tested,
No Manik turbofan tested,
No JP-10 equivalent dense slurry ATF fuel tested
No futuristic AI, machine vision on anything like that tested,
No stealth shaping or materials on airframe were tested either.

What they have demonstrated is an airframe, with an imported engine, and its ability to fly along a preplanned trajectory through conventional waypoint navigation. Grad level stuff if it weren't a 1.5 ton beast.

Perhaps they tested an INS of much higher accuracy than in other systems. If you are REALLY a glass half full kinda guy, they also tested transition from vertical launch to cruise phase with booster separation and wing deployment.

Bear in mind this is 20+ DRDO scientists, systems engineers to flight dynamicists, working on only this for 9 years.

Quite a shame really because it's the Achilles heel of India's strike capability - lack of long range conventional strike options against land targets. China can hit everything in India with their CJ-10s while 90% of their armed forces are out of our reach on their eastern mainland.

Hope somebody proves me wrong and they tested more than just this in 9 years.

ADE is indeed very slow and incompetent, it is the same lab which has messed up Rustom 2 and the whole UAV roadmap which they themselves prepared. They definitely need a kick in the back.

Nirbhay has a targated range of 2000 km at proper altitude..

You should realise that they are spawning a whole family based on experience gained by nirbhaya.

And not just that most of our drones like loyal wingman from Hal and swarming drones shown in jaguars max concept will all be developed on the lines of subsonic cruise missile.

The whole idea of Nirbhay getting shelved is more of a facade then reality.

Tomahawks, with effective range of 1500km have Max Range of 2500km

In fact some posters speculated on BRF, longtime back that Nirbhay had potential upto 3500km

That will be too much...tomhawk without booster weights 1350 kg,where as nirbhay without booster 1000 kg.

An ade official told this in 2018 in a press conference ,i read that news at that time..recently a twitter handle confirmed it after talking to nirbhay team members in def expo 2020
Oh, do you remember which twitter handle it was...? And was there any other info?...other than the usual stuff, ofcourse 🤷‍♂️

Maybe this he was referring to?

Nirbhay is not being considered for the air launched role immediately. Once the manik engine is tested by march or april the range will be easily taken to 2000km.

or maybe this:

With the development of Brahmos ER with 800+ range atleast the land version of Nirbhay may not be required, may IAF with a airborne version and Navy may be interested

A 2000+ km range Nirbhay ? 😜

Everyone else seems to be sticking to 1000-1500 kms range during that def expo 2020 period.
