The photos of the display resembles whats publicly available about the Su-35 cockpit. Large artificial horizon, digital gauges (resembling the analog ones) indicating airspeed, hydraulic fuel pressure, etc and a second partition with a large radar picture. In 2018 I had the privilege to sit in the Gripen E cockpit simulator and was very impressed with how the moving map, LDP image, and radar display were shown on the LAD, with the artificial horizon and aircraft fuel and comms parameters on the smaller secondary displays. The moving map certainly was the most impressive, and the bars indicating the fuel levels were more intuitive and easy to understand than the gauges.

While I am not a fighter pilot or an engineer for Sukhoi, I did feel that the image shown for the Checkmate's cockpit is similar to that of the Su35, albeit the latter has 2 displays. Now if thats how the Russian pilots prefer it then thats that. Same goes with the sidestick. It is possibly a result of the air force's preference.

As far as AI is concerned it remains to be seen what kind of non essential tasks are being handed over to the AI assistant.
Here's an another LAD from Russia for MIG 35(pic credit to respective owner)

Nobody is clarifying whether checkmate is a light weight or medium one, even tejas mk 2 is branded as medium category. If it will be having item 30 then it should be rather a medium category. But each n everyone is mentioning it as a light one.

Medium and light aircraft is subjective especially by country but generally speaking it appears to be a medium sized aircraft, with decent length but overall light weight and somewhat narrow fuselage. With that said it has excellent range, affordability, ‘stealth’ qualities, and customization. I believe Sukhoi stated that they can even make a twin seater and one with different intake design? At least that’s what I remember someone saying.

J-10 class (single Al-41 engine)... Light-medium like F-16 & Mirage-2000.

first of all, indian airforce clearly stated no to any foreign 5th gen fighters.

on top of that, having a 5th gen "single engine" fighter is just useless. from navy or airforce point of view.

navy said no to single engine fighters. since if one engine is lost, the aircraft is gone to the seas/ might become beyond repairable.

airforce can't perform deep strikes efficiently with single engine fighters. it wants a stealth twin engine one for deep strikes.

tejas Mk1 and Mk1A more than enough for interception i.e defensive role. cuz MK1A is a 4.5+

rafale and su-30 MKI are for deep strikes.

mirage primary role is interceptor .will be replaced by a similar category tejas Mk2.

Mig 29 as a multirole will be upgraded and then phased out completely after using it to the bone. no replacement for it.

jaguar, enough for now/ will be replaced by tejas MK2 for specific no-air defence zones for attack role

where does "checkmate" even fit? nowhere.

(of course, it can't fit on a chess board either. both technically and figuratively :troll: )

"airforce can't perform deep strikes efficiently with single engine fighters. it wants a stealth twin engine one for deep strikes." ==> not quite. israel has used F16s many times against reasonably dense a/d network. the osirak strike is a perfect example.

"tejas Mk1 and Mk1A more than enough for interception i.e defensive role. cuz MK1A is a 4.5+" ==> Mk1A is a bit short of 4.5.

"rafale and su-30 MKI are for deep strikes." ==> Rafale yes. Su-30 no. Its huge RCS will light the radar operator's screen like a christmas tree.

"mirage primary role is interceptor .will be replaced by a similar category tejas Mk2." ==> Mirage is primarily a multi role strike fighter. MiG 21 is more of an interceptor.

"Mig 29 as a multirole will be upgraded and then phased out completely after using it to the bone. no replacement for it." ==> MiG 29 is primarily our second like air defence aircraft. Post UPG upgrade it has some multi role capability in terms of A2G attack. But it is first and foremost an A2A fighter. But correct. IAF will make Nalli Nihari of the MiG 29 and chew it to the bone before retiring it. MiG 29s replacement is MWF.

"jaguar, enough for now/ will be replaced by tejas MK2 for specific no-air defence zones for attack role" ==> Yes, but its still short on its capabilities because of the engines.

"where does "checkmate" even fit? nowhere." ==> Few niche roles. 1> As a LO front line air defence aircraft armed with cutting edge avionics and long range BVRs + 2 WVRs, all carried internally. Will be able to get very close to the enemy to take a shot. 2> As a LO quarterback behind a heavy IAF strike package, providing top cover. Low flying Rafales armed with very heavy strike weapons won't exactly be in an advantageous position if OPFORs air defence aircraft are on top of them. Thats where a stealthy quarterback comes into play to shoot them down. But this role can be done by AMCA too.
