Yes , just for the sake of curiosity , after the yellow stand , it seems to have a additional section below .

Well it might be optical illusion also.

Anyways it could have been the DSCM ( Dual Speed Cruise Missile ) with a turbofan as main stage and a ramjet engine as second stage.

Sir please try to imagine things sometimes :biggrin2:
Yeah.... I could imagine it to be a SCRAMJET engine (why settle for RAMJET) underneath the missile. Only problem is its shape and position in the missile. We could see the rear fins of the missile just after the portion. Now as far as my knowledge goes, even our SFDR is a RAMROCKET short of arrangement rather then what ISRO tested.

But yeah, imagination could run wild. :biggrin2:

Akash ng is canistered......
Bhai is it possible to modify akash launch ers to make them canistered...

And what is the actual range of akash
Akash ng
Theoretically possible. Not sure if they'll put the engineering & testing effort on it.

I think Akash-1S(with seeker) should have a higher range than Akash-Mk1. I am hypothesizing this because one of the drawbacks of Akash-Mk1 used to be the Rajendra radar - it's tracking range was limited. But with an on-board seeker the missile will be able to target farther (once the on board seeker locks on). Also, Akash is supposed to have propulsion all-through it's 'earlier designated range' (of 25kms), but if the seeker has locked on and say the fuel runs out at 25kms Akash-1S should still be able to 'coast' towards the target and kill!

Anybody noticed a unusual missile frame in the background at 29 minutes , when the camera looks past the tamark guy .
It seems to have a protruding section that looks like a air-intake below the main body.

Or am I imagining things , can any body take a snapshot.
Maybe a test config.
Unlikely that a protruding air-intake will be part of any new missile system.....those are ancient technology....only Pakis use it in their Babur etc!!!

Also, the scientist Patrick Kennedy mentioned that 'supersonic' cruise missile would be one of the 'variants'.
Will the current config be turned into supersonic? Like reduce weight for same engine to give it a supersonic speed (albeit giving lower range)???

Yes there's a new cruise missile visible in the background in that Tarmak video.

It's a variant of Nirbhay most probably. It has an extended dorsal air intake.

But in its present configuration, the intake will be a RCS Hotspot. Besides, Nirbhay in itself is an unstealthy design. It's a pedestrian design which will be produced in the hundreds. It's a Toyota Camry and not a Beemer M5.

Not ancient. Even a portuding intake if properly shaped and manufactured from the requisite materials can have a low RCS.

Case in point. Kh-101 ALCM from KTRV. It's design bureau is Raduga. It has a drop down air intake.

There is a project for a subsonic cruise missile with supersonic terminal stage

In hindi it is written as Nirbhay AL-01( somebody confirm it , my hindi is weak )
so it might mean air launched-01, air launched version ( prototype 1 ) of Nirbhay most possibly.

May be a test article. One of the design iteration.

It written Nirbhay AL on it ...... So Nirbhay Air Launched variant .

That's the two stage missile.....subsonic cruise missile carrying a small (terminal phase) supersonic missile.
Not sure if that's what the scientist meant by saying there's a 'supersonic variant'....or if its a single stage supersonic missile (all phases)

Former one, subsonic cruise missile carrying a small (terminal phase) supersonic missile.

Logical progression........

@Chinmoy

You owe me now :drool:
Damn I should have listed out more items :doh:
:pound::pound::pound::pound:

No need of a challenge for a nice plate of Gahori. Lau Paani is a strict NO from my side BTW. :biggrin2:

But as @Enquirer said, it is most probably a lab test model.

Reason : Why go for a Tomahawkish Air intake when we have a much better flushed intake in current version. In Air Launched system, as the model suggest, current Air intake is much more aerodynamic then the one showed in the rig.
