New Chinese Type-96B tank just broke down at «Tank biathlon» competition

An indigenously built Chinese Type-96B battle tank (a new tank in the Type-96 family) just broke down on the «Tank biathlon» competition at Alabino training field in Russia.

The Type-96B (also named ZTZ-96B) main battle tank unfortunately for the Chinese military, one just broke down on the «Tank biathlon» mechanized military sports competition developed by the Russian Military.

After passing through the obstacles the Chinese tank lost track support rollers (item tracks, which is a mobile support for the tank). Chinese team quickly replaced the vehicle with the spare, but because of this is one penalty was accrued.

The PLA sent several Type-96B tanks to take part in the tank competition, the most watched part of the Russia-hosted International Army Games.

“The Type-96B is the strongest variant of the Type-96 family and is truly an advanced, third-generation main battle tank,” Gao Zhuo, a Shanghai-based military analyst, told state-controlled China Daily newspaper.

LOL...I was very surprised that this year's Russian Tank biathlon would be mentioned in this way on DFI ...
I almost thought that Indian didn't know or care the 15 days long Armygame 2016 of Russia although IA took part in two events of games including Tank biathlon for the third year...the game began in late July

with 840hp T72B3 , all the three Indian Crews of IA team performed very stable in the first stage -INDIVIDUAL RACE better than the earlier two years... the team ranked 4th in all 17 teams and all crews were in top 15...

but as usual, the IA team couldn't advanced further for the top 4 after the semi-final ranking 6th...BTW, the Russian team finished at around 1H50M in the live broadcast, but somehow 11 minutes was 'erased' on the official score table...LOL...IA team was in the same group with Russian competing in the 3rd Semi-final race.

back to the Type 96B .this latest varient was created by this Tank Biathlon ....LOL...the PLA Army found the 800hp Type 96A can't compete with 840hp T72B3 and Russian team's 1130 hp T72B3M in 'racing'of the past two years. then the 617 factory began this new project with the 1000hp new power pack ,improved Fire control.etc...

with this new tank, the PLA Army team won the first place in first stage and two crews topped in all 54 crews...'Type 96B' was not officially certificated yet, but with this performance in the event this new model might got further order from the Army and would be saled as VT-2A tank in the international market...

this accident was the only machinery fault of Type 96B in all 5 events...so called penalty was just the time for the crew waiting for the backup tank to drive close for switch...but the crew drove the '11 wheels' tank back to the starting point and switch there. PLA team finished in the 2nd place again (3rd in 2014, 2nd in 2015)...Russian: 1h34m25s vs PLA: 1h36m40s...

the accident was really not at good time point..LOL..

In last biathlon also, it had broken down. So chinese tanks is consistently maintaining its poor break down and not exercise worthy record (Forget about war). Even more than 4 decades old T 72 gave consistence performance. J 10 is an another jwel in the chinese crown. Atleast 5 have fallen down in last year. 4 in previous years. This means that 20 % of the plane china produces every year shall fall down. Another Junk named junk 31 and Junk 20 is coming up to join junk family. Junk 15 was very much hyped like type 96 but it can not fly from carrier with any load except some A to A missile. Another Junk HQ 9 (Infact 1 to 100) failed forcing china to beg S400 from Russia. The greatest of all weapon are chinese junk submarines. They are noisee and US expert has compared it with the Soviet subs of 70 era.

ohhhhhh, I forget to mention one more junk. Lioning. China took 14 years to put machine and build other felicities. In order to score over India, they commissioned it in 2013 but engine failed soon. The career is not worthy of training forget about going to high sea and fight.

lol...in consideration of the 'racing' Performance of Type-96B in the 1st stage (Team- first place and Crews topped No.1 and 2)of the Tank biathlon ...the Russian requested the additional weight to be added to the tank...lol...the team leader finally found some back-up 'track shoe' on the front chassis Armor plate and twitter it later, well, very very Russian... ...hoho...the team competed with the extra hundred of kilos in the Final game...

some other related news...in May- June，just before this year's Tank biathlon the Kazakhstan army sent their team to China for a Joint-Training preparing for the coming game...lol...their crew performed the training on PLA provided ZTZ-96 tank.

Tank biathlon is not only the show stage for the Russian T72 Improvement projects(T72B3 and T72B3M) for export but also a chance for Type-96 serial (export varient： VT-2 )...lol...
and this game created the birth of Type-96B which is really a surprise...the project started in May 2015, so far 12 tanks were manufactured for test including the 7000 km durability test going on, 5 of them were brought to Russia for the game. the national test is due to accomplished before the end of 2017. then let's find whether this new varient could get the nod by the Army or the foreign customer...but this year's performance should be a positive push for project .it would be around 60% more expensive than the ZTZ-96A due to the brand new 150 serial power pack...but it is still much cheaper than ZTZ-99A and future Lighter Tank under testing coz ZTZ96 serial is quite cheap ...we might be able to see its chance in PLA army in the future...

the Project 001 started in 2009 and then the fund was released ...it was handed over to PLAN on 25th Sep 2012...the construction time : 4 years... it is just a continued construction and transforming job so it's really fast...

BTW ,just few days ago, the Jane's defense release the latest Satellite image of Project 001A...lol...this project officially started in 2013 (fund released and Plate cut began), the first block was moved to the Dry Dock in Mar 2015 for the assembling job and after just 18 months , you have seen this...it would be launched in late 2016 or early 2017, the dead line of delivery is 2019...lol...the construction time : 6 years

Like all other chinese navalships and submarines, this junk too is not worthy of going to high sea for any operation. It is just good for satisfying the chinese ego that they too have an aircraft career and nothing else. Planes fall down, tanks break down, engine of ships fail. Great PLA.

Indian planes crashes but they are 50 years old planes Mig 21 and Mig 27 etc. Chinese brand new planes fall down. 5 J 10s have fallen down last years (Figures available in public form after all the efforts to hide it).

Arjun has never broken down. Infact, we have never heard any case of wheel getting dismantled of any tank made in India including vijayant to T-90 to Arjun. Some bought out systems needs replacements. In case of china, wheels broke down sometime belt gets crashed and what not. I am awaiting for a day when gun will fall down. This was the chinese best tank chosen for biathlon. Imagine what would have been happening to those other tanks.

NS Vikramaditya had boiler issues as well.

INS vikramaditya had boiler issue in trial phase which bound to happen because it is a trial. China gets all issue even after commissioning. This is the difference.
