Here you go buddy. And send us a link of your article when it's finished.View attachment 30819
I am in communication with a person familiar with the trials that lives here in the United States. However, they do not have any photos of the trials either. The Colt submission for the Multi-Calibre Weapon System was a 5.56mm rifle based on their 6940 monolithic upper receiver system. To convert the rifle to 7.62x39mm per the program requirement, Colt provided 7.62x39mm monolithic upper receivers with each 5.56mm rifle. I have been lucky enough to buy from Colt one each of the 5.56mm and the 7.62x39mm upper receivers.

The upper receiver shown in this photo has a label on it from the trials. I am not able to read it. If anyone can translate the label I would be grateful.

I have also received a stock that was used on a trial rifle as shown here:

This photo was provided to me by my contact here in the United States that shows a labeled upper and stock from the India evaluations.

Can a translation of these labels be provided by anyone as well.

With all of this shown, the Colt rifle shown in the post previously appears to be one of the Colt CM901 rifles due to the large size of the magazine (7.62x51mm NATO). I am looking for photos from a different trial with what I have shown...Colt 5.56mm and 7.62x39mm designs as shown.

Any idea of the IA's evaluation? What did they think of the guns?

And yes, the above picture was a CM910 chambered for 7.62X51. Multi Calibre is just a BAD idea.

Much prefer the present trend.

The Colt proposal was not selected. None of the four weapons evaluated that year were selected by India.

Just curious, which parameter exactly did the weapon fail.

Is it high attitude or cold weather trials?

India offered 200 series of AK not the 100s (i.e no AK103 but the AK12)

"Translation of key bit :

"- Literally in the last days of 2018, our specialists once again went to Delhi for negotiations. I personally met with representatives from the Indian side, with Rostec, Rosoboronexport and FSMTC, we are really discussing the potential production of the Kalashnikov in India. By the end of January 2019, we must formulate the main parameters of this plant. It should be understood that the Indians are already producing a product that they have mastered by themselves; we are, in fact, invited first of all in order to improve the quality."

"- In the process of negotiations, we explained that over the past 50 years, the Kalashnikov assault rifle, to put it mildly, has changed, we have new modifications, more interesting, and, most likely, we will come to the conclusion that we will change the product that has now been delivered troops. This will not be the AK of the 100th series, it will be similar to the AK-203, that is, a much more technically advanced product. As far as we know, this suits the Ministry of Defense, and the production side is also ready, it will be somewhat more expensive, but, in my opinion, this is the case when the price is justified.

India must pour r&d into a new bullet type.

This special one must harmless for xtian, muslim, commie

but super-accurate against Hindu-Sikh especially Sadhus protesting cow slaughter or those protecting Harimandir Sahib।।

Great to hear !!

200 series is just further evolution of 100 series.

https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog...v-concern-introduces-ak-200-series-of-rifles/

AK-12 and AK-15 on the other hand are almost entirely reworked designs.

By the way, if the report is true - this is the rifle we're being offered:

I can't say how glad I am that we're not getting the vanilla 103! The 203 is just so much better...full length integrated P-rail, ergonomic pistol grip, retractable stock out of the box...an all-round better weapon hands down.

So hopefully we standardized on the

SIG716 - Line infantry + soF
Caracal 816 - SOF + infantry officers + crew defence
AK200 - SOF / COIN / CAPF

Can anyone read the script that is on this Colt upper receiver label that came from the MCAR weapon trials in India in 2014? I am writing an article and would like to know what it translates to.

Right...although I'm not sure regarding the SF use of any of these guns. Usually, the SFs buy their own separately. Although it's not hard to imagine them getting hands on infantry weapons, if they happen to develop a liking for them.

(...or when they are required to operate under the guise of regular forces, but that happens anyway...)

mcwis is way better than this shit
MCIWS is dead. What's that saying..." A bird in hand is worth two in the bush ".

That said, on a purely technical standpoint, I agree. MCIWS was an AR15-inspired gas piston design. By virtue of design concept, it should have been better than an AK. But of course, that says nothing for how well OFB would have managed to build it, much less how good (or more aptly, how bad) the QA/QC across production batches would have been.

Because if there's one entity capable of messing up tried-and-tested designs and making them bad, its the OFB.
