Tavor in 7.62x51mm is here :

Excellent!!!

Even though I am sceptical of a bullpup platform for entire infantry, this is a welcome development. According to some media sources nearly 20 firms were offering 7.62 rifles to IA, so let's see where this goes. But then again, Indian media also thinks that Agni V is an ATM, so who knows.

Please tag me if you come up with more info on 7.62 Tavor.

I learned a lesson here, a hungry force can not and will not support indigenisation (Ghatak,Excalibur,MCIWS weapons).

To let the indigenous production develop in our country, may be we must first fill up gaps surplusly and simultaneously replace them with home made products I guess.
And tell our generals u got what you want, now dont interfere in selecting indigenous products. And our stuff should be inducted in our selective troops to gather end user requirements and assist in further rectifications.

But disappointed that conditions not allowing our own products in to system.
Problem is we take years after years for trials best example is Tejas,Both Air Force and Army change their requirements time to time. Import lobby is also their in Armed forces I think we need to follow Soviet and Nazi way in this .

Tavor in 7.62x51mm is here :

My initial observations
- MP-5 Style notch at the end of Charging Handle Opening. Is charging handle of reciprocating type (so it can be used as forward assist too) ?
- Ergonomics is based upon X-95 (Or they simply rechambered X-95 into 7.62 NATO and Modified receiver to make it accept larger 7.62 NATO mags?:confused1:)
-Full length Top Rails, but what about 3,6 (or bottom) and 9 rails?
-No Iron sights ? Well,it seems that they will provide folding backup iron sights (folding inside top rails) while optics will serve as primary mean of aiming the weapon.
-Two (or Three) Quick Detachable Sling Mounts
-A proprietory 7.62 NATO magazine ? Or it is taken from another AR-10 type weapons such as H&K 417 ? Anyway,it seems to be made of Polymer.
-It seems that they've provided a gas regulator with this variant. Is it a Short stroke or Long Stroke gas operated weapon?
-Controls are fully ambidextrous with ambi-selectors and bolt release, while charging handle and ejection can be moved to other side by disassembling the weapon and modifying it.BTW,what is that 'Dot' thing above fire selector? Is it some sort of 'Cross bolt' selector for safe/fire or Single/Full auto selection?
-It seems Barrel length will be around 14 to 16 inches.

SK-16. Another one of those Russian vaporware. Supposed replacement for Dragunov along with SVK. Not a battle rifle.

@tharun

Not really mate. Telescopic sight and barrel length are a dead give away. Look up SVK too.

To replace ageing Dragunov SVD 7.62mm sniper rifle, Kalashnikov Group has launched the development of innovative SK-16 carbine. Upgraded SVD (designated as SVDM) will replace the basic Dragunov in the foreseeable future, while SK-16 may become the organic sniper rifle of Russia`s Armed Forces in long-term perspective.
