The wait for indigenous version of AK-203 rifle extended: Production could not start in Amethi, effect of ongoing war between Russia-Ukraine
The wait for the light indigenous assault rifle, which has been going on for 15 years for the Indian forces, has increased further. The plant for AK 203 assault rifles of the Kalashnikov series at Korwa near Amethi in Uttar Pradesh has not started. The shadow of the war going on between Russia and Ukraine for more than 300 days is over the operationalization of this plant.

At present, the construction work of Indo-Russia Rifles Pvt Ltd (IRRPL) plant is going on in the Korwa Ordnance Factory premises.

Now production will start next year
, two-three halls of Ordnance Factory are already ready here. Construction of the production line is underway, including an indoor firing range for rifle testing. Russian engineers and skilled team have been recruited in IRRPL. Who will train the Indian team. Now the production of the rifle is likely to start in 2023.

Aleksandr Mikheev, director general of the Russian arms company Rosoboronexport, has said that Korva was to produce the AK-203 by the end of 2022. The project has got a little late. Indigenous content will be increased from 5% to 100% in a phased manner in a batch of 40,000 rifles.

Delay in the first consignment to be received directly At
present, the three parts of the army have about 8 lakh indigenous INSAS (Indian Small Arms System) rifles. Under this deal, instead of INSAS, the first consignment of 20 thousand AK 203 is to come directly from Russia. It is also getting delayed due to the war with Ukraine. This is a ten year project under the deal. Fully indigenous rifle will be ready after 1.20 lakh rifles.

other two reasons for the delay

  • Tech Transfer- India wants 100% indigenization followed by Tech Transfer. Russia has agreed to 60% only.
  • Rate - The cost of a rifle will come from 80 to 90 thousand rupees. India wants to reduce the rate of this rifle.

Lightweight and all-weather ak-203

  • Speed: 700 rounds of fire capacity in 1 minute
  • Range: 500 to 800 meters ie 1649 to 2620 feet
  • Magazine: 30 rounds in one.
  • Weight: 3.8kg
  • Barrel: 16.3 inches
  • Caliber: 7.62 mm
  • Length: 705 mm
us nibbas should just start a coup so that the army could get good rifles and boots:india::india:.We shall name it Bharatstan

AK 203 rifle production in 2023

Looks like DFIans need to visit Amethi Factory and clean machines so when we start production in distant future the machines are in pristine condition.

Someone should ask simple question with CDS, Army chief, RM when we can get rifles for troops since we as a country of 1.4 billion people with 2 nuclear countries sandwiched with us could not be able to build a rifle and depends on another country who stuck in their own problems.

We can happily enjoy this policy paralysis.

oh they seem to have upgraded Trichy as well, since december 2021 era local exhibition by Thiruchirapilli Factory it was showcased like this
1672042839125.png

1672042883430.png

and TriCa - Trichy Carbine, like this
1672042924452.png

1672042901900.png

notice Galil style thumb operated fire selector is also integrated, something that i direly wished our AKs to have

so if they can just...mate these two things,
- top cover with rails and a lock that firmly affixes it to receiver
- tactical fire selector
then there is barely any need for impoorting any other AK here

...b...but in pov of armed forces ^these^ are inferior to this

Thus says edajima heihachi: indo very fool nation, they not able to produce a rifle from borrowed technology.
We in nipon have made our own rifle. Maybe indo can learn a few things from the yamato race.

more like a scam, no joke

i mean just consider this,
> OFB Korwa, Amethi was inaugurated in 2007 by *ahem* Amethi MP Rahul Gandhi himself, and as per official CAG report itself they were supposed to manufacture CQB carbines and other small arms there
> Since 2008 at least there were constant mentions of indian "assembly" // manufacturing of AK-103 (DO NOTE AK-103M = FIRST VERSION OF AK-103 WITH RAILS ONLY CAME OUT AROUND 2009, THIS EVEN PREDATES RUSSIAN ADOPTION OF 'AK WITH RAILS' ABOUT GOOD 2-3 YEARS HUUUH) on wikipedia, read it yourself at internet archive at here https://web.archive.org/web/20081201084021/http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AK-103
1672046094522.png

and this was later put as citation around 2008, a times of india article on it
1672046467475.png

it mostly stays similar (with some change in lines like "negotiating for a license" etc but main point being same) for good 10-11 some years upto 2019 at least, upto 2019, meanwhile we saw change in govts from UPA-1 to UPA-2 and later NDA-1,two PMs and three Presidents and what not...

meanwhile around 2009 then Izhmash announces AK-103M = this,

1672046833572.png

mark the date, ALSO COMPARE IT WITH CURRENT SO CALLED AK-203 WE ARE GETTING
1672046745340.png

🤷‍♂️ WHAT FUCKING EVEN...
well this was the early progress of "AK with Rails" thing in Russia which went further ahead and in some years forked into AK-200, AK-400, AK-12 etc all...not relevant (EVEN THOUGH DAMN RELEVANT IN BROAD SENSE) to us

we saw AK-103 plus railed top cover (do note this seemed like from KM-AK upgrade kit of Russia) at some OFB exhibition around 2017-18 time if i remember correctly
1672049583137.png

1672049738763.png

also note how even this seemingly "desi made AK-103" also is damn similar to what we're getting in name of AK-203 hhmm

coming back to wikipedia thing,
this mention of "licensed manufacturing AK-103" ONLY WENT AWAY IN 2019, AND AROUND SAME TIME THEY WERE ROLLING OUT AK-200 SERIES, FROM THAT ONE AK-203 ONE EVENTUALLY GETS SELECTED AS UPCOMING STANDARD ISSUE RIFLE WITH SAME LICENSED MANUFACTURING + ToT THEY HAD BEEN DISCUSSING WITH US IN PAST

DOESN'T IT ALL SOUND SO STRANGE ? Like something that'd been going on for more than 10 years eventually is selected as INSAS replacement - as next service rifle while every damn other rifle program here (be it licensed manufacturing-JV or developing here or even impoorting ) is effectively butchered down to ;no orders; - as if they only wanted russian AK baaki sab jaae bhaad mey ; and even selected a variant that was damn similar sans rails to what was originally offered...

Joke on our military and political leadership.
Nothing explains this much of circus for assault rifles but as you said “scam”.
How hard is to design and manufacture rifles.
Rajnath Singh is either incompetent or clueless or something else.

I have mentioned this some time back. We are negotiating for an AK series rifle which has 100+ variants manufactured by some Darra specialist to Hi-Tech Factory-made ones. We discussed regarding IPR, help from Kalashnikov and all other bakchodi. Meanwhile somewhere in OFT some of the guys able to reverse engineer an AK variant which is a Bulgarian interpretation of AK. They are selling it for CRPF. Instead of working with them to create next iteration we decided to screw it.

Aam junta were fooled by this deal. Till now we have a factory sitting idle for 3-4 years. Soldiers are fighting with inferior guns and losing their lives for nothing since our Politicians and Army brass decided to import something which is basically an essential item for an Jawan.

Any self-respect person will cancel the deal and start trials for indigenous system and try to produce it. Also, at present time the private companies can at least be capable of manufacturing subcomponents for Guns. Eg. Bharat Forge supplying parts for JVPC.

Aam janta does to care for these or china attacking or wheather we produce desi arms or what is industrial warfare.
They care for privatisation ho raha hai, menhgai ho rahi, pension scheme dwara lagu kro, free
Mai bijli de do , free Mai ration de do. Reservation chaiye. Etc etc. and thus our “wise “ leadership past or present eternal circus of inward jumlebazzi or appeasing to win next election cycle and ignoring issues which matters for security or sovereignty.

footnote, kinda forgot to mention,

so CAG report on 2007 era Amethi factory, mentions about manufacturing of CQB Carbines, hhmm
i wonder if originally the factory was meant to manufacture those Zittara = Tavor X-95 fork for Indians, in various calibres (5.56x45mm, 5.56x30mm MINSAS etc) or some AK Carbine (preferebly AK-104 = short barreled carbine variant of AK-103) from Izhmash or something else

in any case none of that happened at all, apart from INSAS replacement thing we are also lacking-lagging hard in carbines part sic 🤷‍♀️
