Personally holding Chairman Mao in great reverence, who has the most profound impacts on China's track of modernization. As reference I'd sum up my understanding of Mao-ism heritage in China,

- Land reform: in 1920's-1950's Mao and his comrades distributed the lands to the masses of landless peasants (70% )
- Industrialization: the groundwork was laid down in Mao's time
- Socialism: Mao stood in favour of 'grassroots' and against any form of 'exploitation', and enforced nationalization of industries. Against corruption and 'bureaucratic capitalism' of the former ruling Nationalist Party
- Nationalism: brutal resistance during WW2 to Japanese invasion; fought against the US in Korean War/Vietnam War; broke away from USSR in hail of 'self-dependence'
- Spiritually Mao revived Chinese' self-esteem and confidence.

Since China's reform and opening up late 1970's Mao Thought has undergone skeptism as to whether it's applicable in China (or the world) today. What affinity do those self-claimed MAOists (naxalites) have with Mao's thought/revolution?

IMO, it is insulting Chair Mao by calling these insurgents Maoist, who bears no resemblance with Mao.

Who invented the word Maoist? Who gave them this title?

Remembering Lost Children - Telugu

this is the video that shows the parents situation after the death of naxalites.

Telugu documentary film on the agony of the mothers who lost their children in the ongoing Naxalite movement in Andhra Pradesh. About a dozen mothers who are essentially non-political and do not necessarily believe in their deceased children's politics, talk about their memories, the trauma, repression they have undergone both physically and emotionally when their children were away from home fighting for others' causes. Mothers were randomly interviewed from two regions where the movement is intense - Uddanam area of Srikakulam district and Jangoan area of Warangal district.

Far away from the glare of the achievements in the fields of information technology, a long festering Maoist insurgency is growing in the heart of India. The Maoists have found a strong base among the tribal people of India. By examining the history of Communist movements in India within a behavioral perspective, this article asks the question why in the past similar movements were relatively easy for the authorities to suppress, while the current Maoist insurgency is proving to be much harder to manage? The Naxalites occupy an ambiguous niche in history. Exemplary idealist to some, he indicates to others an expression of immature disaffection that has nothing constructive to offer. In either case, he embodies the reinstatement of man as a moral agent if only because Naxalites so radically challenge the premises of established morality.
