With the Artemis program, NASA will land the first woman and next man on the Moon by 2024, using innovative technologies to explore more of the lunar surface than ever before. We will collaborate with our commercial and

international partners and establish sustainable exploration by 2028. Then, we will use what we learn on and around the Moon to take the next giant leap – sending astronauts to Mars.

NASA Lunar Gateway For Artemis Program To Be Ready By 2023

NASA Lunar Gateway Explained

The current NASA schedule involves sending humans to the Moon by 2024 as part of the Artemis Program. Recently, NASA awarded three companies to work on the lunar lander for the Program. Scientists and astronomers are collectively working on how to get humans to land on the Moon.

As part of the mission plan, the Lunar Gateway involves staging the first human landing from the Gateway in high lunar orbit. However, Ars Technica reports that both NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine and the space agency's chief of human spaceflight, Doug Loverro, said the Gateway was an essential part of NASA's long-term plans to not only to return humans to the Moon but to do so in a sustainable manner.

Japan designs lunar rover as US plots return to moon

Japan will develop a manned moon rover as the country plays an important role in U.S. President Donald Trump's ambitious mission to return American astronauts to the lunar surface by 2024.

The rover forms a major part of Tokyo's participation in the Artemis program, Nikkei has learned. Japan also will provide an unmanned space vehicle now under development to ferry supplies to the planned Gateway lunar orbital station, which will be central to the moon mission.

The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, or JAXA, has determined that data from joint study with the Indian Space Research Organization can be applied to the rover. JAXA also is conducting moon rover research with Toyota Motor.

The Moon is back in vogue and it will soon be crowded there, in its orbit for sure. In the orbit of the Moon are now:
- LRO probe (Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter) from NASA
- Chinese microsatellite "Longjiang-2" and relay satellite "Quetqiao" and that is not the whole list. In 2020 - the Chang'e-5 mission with a returnable module to Earth, which will deliver several kilograms of lunar soil for new research and discoveries.

Wow. Starship is being developed at a scorching pace. They are apparently planning the first sub-orbital flight this year. Here are the details they just released about the trajectory in 55 seconds:-

Some interesting pieces of news from the Artemis mission. Starship will officially be the single solution for the first lunar landing mission under NASA’s Artemis program to return to the Moon. This comes after the US GAO backed the decision to use Starship as the lander, stating it didn’t break any laws with the selection. The space agency first announced its decision to land astronauts on the Moon with SpaceX in April, but legal protests from the Blue Origin-led National Team and Dynetics halted progress for the contract.
