My guess is that India acted as a policemen to the Indian Ocean to ward off pirates and hijackers. That relieves US and Briton so much pressure to police this Ocean when they are extremely busy with China threat to Taiwan; Russian Invasion and threats in the Black Sea. With this equipment, India can police the Indian Ocean better……. Bravo.

There is a high probability of a US war with Iran.. Where will all those US warships be repaired and resupplied.. LEMOA is already active with 2 or 3 Indian shipyards..

Import Army will lose the war, afsars will make bank via (((emergency procurements))) while losing the war, Modi govt will be thrown out and the next govt will make even more bank by (((fast tracking))) bulk import orders.
It's a win win for everyone involved, wardi-wearing afsars, IAS afsars in MoD, opposition politicians etc.

As with most Americunt military purchases, HAFTA is a large component of the price, not the cost of the goods per se.

Wardi wearers are perfectly capable of failing their missions and letting their men die on purpose just to spite the GoI and claim that Govt forced "inferior low quality domestic weapon systems" on them, isliye jung haar gaye.

The armed forces too need a good purge but it should be architected by a bunch of afsars with the /right/ thinking from inside the phorses, not some politician
