A Ghatak platoon is usually 20-men strong, consisting of a commanding Captain, 2 non-commissioned officers and some specialised soldiers like designated marksman, light machine gunners, medics and radio operators. The remaining soldiers act as assault troopers. Officers and soldiers from combat support arms such as Engineers, Signals, Artillery, etc are also deputed for specialist roles during operations.

The concept of Ghatak is really well visoned.
Team of 20 folks that can carry out small operations on their own.

The no of ghataks need to be increases tho
Maybe some 70000 would do.

Ghatak is known as a platoon, so wouldn't it have around 40 men?

Sarvatra Kavach is on the import ban list, does that mean IA is going to buy more of it?
Yes this second list is positive list not negative per se this means that this product is present or will be present so need need to but this type of product from foreign country.

Supposedly Indian Army infantry with High cut ballistic helmets and full cut ACH helmets. Also it looks like INSAS with vertical foregrip. Maybe Ghataks not too sure. @Nightshade1992 can you confirm since the picture is from your page?

The mod of that page on instagram said they’re from 5 Gorkha. IMO they’re either ghataks or unit funds are being used for all this.

@AVINASH4061 sir, how much do these β€œCombat Vests” cost and how comfortable and useful are they, who makes them and why do our forces both from MOD AND MHA love to buy them? I believe they have a provision for inserting plates but after a while the fabric bends and stretches which causes sagging. So most soldiers wear it over the old gen basic plate carriers as seen in this video at 2:27,

In recent times I’ve seen only us, the Belgians and the Chinese using tactical vests with plate inserts.

Indian made combat vests cost peanuts, around 300 INR. They don't have the provision to insert plates. Our Jawans won't buy anything that costs money, doesn't matter what is their pay. The officers might want to buy good stuff but unfortunately no firm in this country makes them. I myself never had a tactical plate carrier and wore BP plates may be only in 10% of all the ops I went to. Sad but true. Absolutely no good plate carriers and rucks/ tactical bags.
