5.45x39 is the most intelligent thing Russians did, it has better Armour piercing capabilities than both 556 and 762, higher muzzle velocity, low weight and better ballistics.
What?? Bigger the calibre of a bullet, the better the armour piercing!! There is a reason why we have armour plates and BPJs for 5.56 rounds, but not for 7.62,since its really difficult to stop, even at a longer distance! The only downside is it's heavy compared to 5.56/5.45,hence Russians dropped it!!

He said 5.45 has better armour piercing than 5.56 and 7.62, which is not true right??
It has a better wounding effect for sure, Armour Penetration is a highly variable effect also highly dependent on the type and grain of the projectile being used.

Generally, 5.45/5.56 loses armour penetration against body armour over longer distances as compared to 7.62, but then special 5.7mm and 4.7mm have better armour penetration than 7.62 overall.

So it doesnt function like higher the calibre, better the penetration.

Where are you living man? 5.45 can pierce an armour easily, it is better than 5.56 and 7.62 both.

I think it's definitely not a proven field where different calibre has different penetrant properties!! But if I had to close my eyes and pick up a bullet for more power and better range, then I would pick 7.62

The OFB 5.56*45 mm round is not the same as that of NATO 5.56*45 mm round. INSAS uses 64 grain 5.56mm FMJ from a 18.3 inch with 1 in 7.8 inch rifle twist Heavy Barrel which has a projectile speed of 3050 FPS which is hell lethal in close ranges to penetrate Level-IV BPJs at 200 metres.
In fact many BPJs from private companies were not able to meet the requirement in comparitive trials due to the inability of stopping the INSAS round

Read this twitter thread about the development of Insas from the 80s to the present. Very informative.

So Indian 5.56x45mm Round is better than the NATO one?

And??? You're seriously saying 5.45 is superior to 7.62 in armour piercing?? Even in close quarter shooting let alone long range takeouts, 5.45 can't beat the 7.62 round. When we are talking about this field, we have to consider the range, barrel length, etc, not just piercing capability.
Feel free to see it yourself.

Yes, it is heavier at 64 grain than the standard NATO one (at 56 grain) and has better penetration capabilities. Colonel Sanjay Singh has well documented these capabities in his twitter thread.

5.45 has better ballistics, and we don’t know which 5.45x39 he’s using.

At the cost of lesser muzzle velocity.

R
well 70 yrs of fuckery done by congress cannot be unfucked within few yrs it will take at least decades. We need reform in each and every sector from highest to lowest level , each and every system and law created by previous scamgress govt need to be changed.

Modi govt took first 5 yrs to understand every thing and when they got majority in RS last yr we already saw what happened.
But frankly we should have good economic growth there should be no excuse for slowdown.
Near majority in RS is expected in November.

The question to ask is : in modern times, will close quarter battles take place at all? Will most battles be fought with stand off weapons to minimize casualties anyway? If we assume this then carrying lighter guns in favor of heavier body protection and donning situational awareness and networking gadgets make more sense? After all, I am sure the army has a max load that a soldier can carry and are probably figusing out how best to maximize lethality of a soldier without exceeding the max load threshold. I think we have to see weapons as part of a soldier’s overall battle suite and the type of soldier’s role in warfare than a simple round versus round comparison.

One shot in the areas being left wide open, and you could end up paraplegic for life.
you cant just cover a soldier in kevlar from head to toe, they have to fight move jump run as well. There is always give and take, the more protection you put on the slower and more likely to get shot you are aswell.
modern plate carriers only cover the vitals on the human body, they cover the organs that if hit will kill you very quickly, they have sacrificed protection for speed and comfort.
