MTC To Present Advanced Steering System For Mortars And Rockets At AUSA 2014.



MTC Industries and Research announced today that it will present its unique mortar and rocket steering unit during the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) 2014 Annual Meeting at Washington D.C from October 13-15. AS a part of the project, MTC has developed steering units that can adjust or steer the rocket or mortar towards the target at any time and under any weather conditions while in the air. The system is aimed at reducing collateral damage in the vicinity. The steering unit also decreases the amount of mortars and the number of launches required, due to a hit rate of 70% - representing considerable savings.
The system is operated by four separate electric DC motors, driving 4 foldable wings, which are locked in a folded position. "Mortars and rockets have a significant drawback - they are not very accurate, and can thus potentially cause harm to uninvolved populations and untargeted structures in the area. In order to give armies around the world a solution minimizing injuries to civilians and damage to neutral structures, MTC has developed a mechanical- engineering system that enables control over mortars and rockets until they reach their targets," Yechiel Cohen, President and Founder of MTC Industries & Research said.

U.S. Plans to Build a "Stealth Dirt Bike"

U.S. military leaders have approved funding to develop a hybrid, stealth motorcycle to be driven by special operations teams in the not too distant future. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has issued a grant to integrate a multiple fuel, hybrid-electric power plant into a dirt bike built by BRD Motorcycles. The hybrid electric engine will be built by Logos Technologies. DARPA leaders forsee an electric bike that can drive for an extended range while producing nearly zero engine noise. "Quieted, all-wheel-drive capability at extended range in a lightweight, rugged, single-track vehicle could support the successful operations of U.S. expeditionary and special forces in extreme terrain conditions and contested environments," said Wade Pulliam, manager of advanced concepts at Logos Technologies. "With a growing need to operate small units far from logistical support, the military may increasingly rely on adaptable, efficient technologies like this hybrid-electric motorcycle." A hybrid drive system would offer the bike more range than a purely electric system. This will be the first time a hybrid drive system is incorporated onto a motorcycle, a Logos official said.

nothing that uses energy (heat) can be stealth to IR equipment..

Wrong. There is Greek company Intermat wich developed multispectral camouflage paints, that masks vehicle in conventional way, but also isolates it's thermal signature, thus making it more difficult to detect using thermal vision.



Two vehicles, one using standard camouflage paint, and the other using Intermat paint.


There are also other sollution like multispectral camouflage nets, for example Saab barracuda Mobile Camouflage System.

And then there are other sollutions.

Raytheon releases video of DeepStrike S2S missile


The new missile is Raytheon’s offering for the U.S. Army’s Precision Strike Missile, or PrSM, requirement. The new PrSM weapon system will be a surface-to-surface, all-weather, precision-strike guided missile fired from the M270A1 Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) and the M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS).

The baseline missile, which will be developed and fielded to engage a wide variety of targets at ranges up to 310 miles, will emphasize imprecisely located area and point targets. The primary emphasis for follow-on spirals will be on increased range, lethality and engagement of time-sensitive, moving, hardened and fleeting targets.

The DeepStrike missile has several advantages over the current weapon; it flies farther, packs more punch and has a superior guidance system. Raytheon engineers designed the missile so that two can fit in a single weapons pod – a feature that reduces its cost and would effectively double the Army launchers’ combat power.

Air Force Set To Deploy Its Counter-Drone "Phaser" Microwave Weapon Overseas


The U.S. Air Force says it will deploy a prototype of Raytheon's Phaser high-power microwave counter-drone system for an operational evaluation within months. The service has been experimenting with a number of anti-drone directed energy weapons, which also include lasers, in recent years as the threat of small unmanned aircraft has grown.

Phaser in its current form is a containerized high-power microwave directed energy weapon. Raytheon says one of its goals is to eventually be able to scale down the system into more portable, flexible forms.

Radars or electro-optical and infrared cameras help cue the system to its targets. It then projects a beam of microwave energy that aims to disrupt a drone's internal systems, causing it to fall out of the sky or possibly initiate a pre-programmed emergency procedure where it tries to lands or return to a point of origin.

Phaser has the ability to switch from "disrupt" to "destroy" mode, in which it can send a burst of microwave energy sufficiently powerful enough high to fry electronic components inside an unmanned aircraft. The exact effect could be dependant on the system's range to the target and level of component hardening within the drone.

Depending on the effective range of the system, it could potentially destroy various electronics on other aerial threats, including manned aircraft, helicopters, and missiles. Depending on how Phaser's turret is configured, it is possible that this beam could be aimed at targets on the ground, as well. The U.S. military has already been investigating the potential uses for high-power microwave weapons in ground roles, especially for force protection purposes, such as stopping threatening vehicles before they reach a base.

It isn't exactly clear how wide an effective microwave beam the Phaser can fire, but it is known to have been designed to counter groups of drones simultaneously, giving it real anti-swarm potential. It's unlimited magazine also would help in repulsing sustained attacks from multiple groups of drones.

The first export orders will come from gulf based oil producing countries in all probability.
