Any implications for AMCA? India, Japan and UK have roughly similar GDP and defence spending, with the latter two having more advanced and mature R&D and engineering industries.

No implication other than RR will be not as aggressive with their India pitch having secured a partner already.

Is it optimistic for AMCA to be a solo project?

No. They started in 2009 so have been at it for 13 years now which is enough time to know if a project is beyond you. Yet we are fabricating AMCA PV-1 which reflects confidence. Another marker- we chose to forego the Su-57 effort as a junior partner with Russia. This program has confidence written all over it. & These days there are more updates on AMCA while total silence on Mk2!

The core group to develop the stealth fighter was formed in 2009 with five defence scientists— Ashish Kumar Ghosh, Krishna Rajendra Neeli, M.B. Angadi, A.K. Vinayagam and Fairoza Naushad.
