Welll... Japs know their stuff. But USA will really pressure them not to be making this and instead choose F-35. Arm-twisting is an old US tactic. Unless the new government in Japan proves their motto of "moving away from US dependence to self reliance" as they promised, I don't see Shin Shin to be a reality.

It does look like a heavily modified F-15, but still its a fantastic development on the part of Japanese. It can very well be a reality, the only thing stopping it is the willpower on the part of the Japanese government. I still feel, that if relations between India and Japan had as deep as those we have with the Russians, then if we had collaborated with them on our LCA project ten years back, then even the LCA Mark 2 would have been fully operational by now. But they always raise the nuke bogey, which dampens the spirit.
