What is the difference between Pralaya and Prahar missile?
Pralay - 2 stage solid rocket motor missile with range from 150 to 500 km.
Prahaar- Single stage solid rocket motor missile with 200 km range.

Prahar is a ballistic missile which can be fired in salvo mode like MBRL. Pralay is a Quasi ballistic missile with shaped trajectory which is very difficult to intercept. It changes its trajectory continuously and behaves like cruise missile in terminal stage. It is a cheap substitute of Brahmos with 4 times the payload and greater range than 290 KM brahmos.

Pralay was specifically designed to target Chinese location on other side of mountain with precision strike. It is designed to target Bunkers and other military installation located just other side of border to prevent artillery and and MBRL strikes. You can not hit them with normal cruise missile. This is the reason why we specifically developed Brahmos MK III with steep dive capability.

Because Brahmos was costly and it had Payload limitations, It was not economical to use Brahmos against the targets which does not cost as much as a single Brahmos missile. Idea of a missile which addresses these limitations was was evolved and DRDO started work on the same. At the time of Himalayan conflicts with China, I repeatedly wrote that whosoever has a area specific weapon will dominate and we felt the need of Pralay very badly at that time. Fortunately, Pralay is operational now. We need to deploy them in Numbers to stop China from doing any misadventure Himalaya.

What you guys are saying Prahar and Parlaya missiles downgrade the Chinese advantage of their rocket force.

It is a good news………

Now we have to neutralize the Chinese propaganda of Invincibility of J-20 fighter over Rafale.
