Ya Nibbiars many of here have little knowledge of what is a Milbus. And generally associate it with PAF. Many consider that only PAF has Milbus. But actually many militaries have MILBUS and with different model and many Milbus are even successful and Profitable. There are many types of Milbus model. Here are some in brief :

Standard Milbus : In this type of model the military controls many firms in different industry which also include non military sectors in order to support its social and military programmes. They have almost no civilian control. eg : Pak Milbus.

Stakeholder Milbus : In this type of Milbus the personnels subscribe share of the Military foundation. Be in part percentage of military salary. And will get monthly or one time return in terms of Funds or pension or additional pension. I.e. Malaysian Milbus Model.

Civilian controlled Milbus : In this type of Milbus a firms which created with a aim of creating profits in both Civilian and defence sectors to benifit its troops through Social programmes. But are under a civilian control. I.e. Western Milbus.

Stake holding Milbus : In this type of Milbus military foundation holds stake in both Civilan and Military sectors firms in order to generate profitable and are under a nominal civilan Overbody. I.e. Turkish Milbus.

Military Milbus : In this type of Milbus model a military foundation can hold its stake on in defence sectors or allied sectors.

Corporate Milbus : In this type of model a psu is created in order to service requirement be it in both civilan and defence sectors. Can be owned completely by the goverment or partially floated on a public stock exchange. I.e. Burmese Milbus.

This is exactly what Major Gaurav Arya discussed about in one of his video that Pak army is able to generate huge revenue (~$8 billion per yr) from the business they run in the country. This offset a great deal of expenditure done on Salary and non weaponry capex. Though cant say if they are able to spend this money cleanly or it just goes in bank of high rank officers.
Indian Army spends a big part of budgets on salaries and pension and on maintaining the canteens.
I am definitely in favor of Milbus so that we can offset the big expenditure on things other than weapons.

Even if we transfered the profits from the DPSUs and zero the GST on the defence equipment's. It will save us a great amount of money.
