bro, the -400 will transpose to rhs, then it will become 400, then you will find transpose the square to rhs, therer it will become sq root of 400 = 20

so the value of k is 20.

you need to understand what question is asking, it is asking for what value of k the given quadratic equation will give equal roots.

so you need to find the value of k.

but the condition is that roots should be equal, So, you will apply the condition of equal roots in the equation (D=0).

then you will solve that , and get the value of k

That means when I solve the Discriminant which is :-

D = (B)² - 4(A)(C)

Change the constants with variables

i.e.

Now putting the formula of roots you will get

B² - 4AC = 0

B= K, A= 4, C=25

Find out K, it will be 20

See "bhai" I hate online learning. Especially from youtube videos. Whenever I learn anything Offline than it goes "straight" in my head. Online i don't understand everything. Especially Maths. Maths is something that can be taught only on Offline.

This Formula is applied after you find the "D" Discriminant. Here in our Institution, we are taught the formula this Way:-

i) (-b + √D) ÷ 2(a)
ii) (-b - √D) ÷ 2(a)

Meaning I am trying to say that (-b + √D) and (-b - √D) are upon 2(a). Now this is very simple but still Because of couple of gimmicks here and there, I do get confused at times.
