Man sets off explosion at Italian army barracks

fullstory

Milan (Italy), Oct 12 (AP) A Libyan man set off an explosive device in front of an army barracks in Milan, seriously injuring himself and causing light wounds to another man, Italian police and news reports said.

The Apcom news agency said the man shouted "Out of Afghanistan!" before setting off the device, which was not very powerful. Italy has about 2,800 troops deployed in Afghanistan.

Police in Milan said the man had tried to enter the army barracks but was stopped at the entrance and set off his device. The man was taken to a hospital in Milan. He mostly suffered injuries to his hand and his face, police said.

Police said they were looking into the explosion and did not disclose further details.

A soldier who was standing guard at the police barracks was also lightly injured, according to Italian news reports.
