@vampyrbladez sirji I was talking about nuclear power plants, not nuclear bombs. The bomb detonation offer from Kennedy was a negotiating bluff, just to test your intention to see whether you are itching to build a bomb or not. In that instance, Nehru was right to deny it. Even Vajpayee got an offer from the US to do computer simulated tests if we promised not to do real tests. He refused and went ahead with real tests. They offer things to you as a means to deter its indigenous development. Even today, they are offering us to stop Thorium research. One shouldn't fault Modi for refusing that offer. They are not our well-wishers.

For a new country to pass a bill on nuclear energy in its first year of independence was a very visionary move. Our scientists like Homi Bhabha were working on it since 1930s and were obviously under CIA assassination list so they didn't want India to learn those skills. Still India pursued it. That was the most "non-slave-like" thing a chaploos like Nehru did in his life. We had made headways in nuclear research since 30's. He could have easily closed it to please his White masters, like Morarji Desai crushed RAW, but destiny was on our side and he institutionalized it and provided funding for its expansion. Galti se kuch toh accha kiya.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_power_in_India :

By 1939, Meghnad Saha, the Palit Professor of Physics at the University of Calcutta, had recognised the significance of the discovery of nuclear fission, and had begun to conduct various experiments in his laboratory related to nuclear physics. In 1940, he incorporated nuclear physics into the university's post-graduate curriculum.[14] In the same year, the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust sanctioned funds for installing a cyclotron at the University of Calcutta, but various difficulties likely related to the war delayed the project.[15]

In 1944, Homi J. Bhabha, a distinguished nuclear physicist who had established a research school at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, wrote a letter to his distant cousin J. R. D. Tata, the chairman of the Tata Group. He requested funds to establish a research institute of fundamental physics, "with special reference to cosmic rays and nuclear physics." The Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) was inaugurated in Mumbai the following year.

But we should be aware that we are not stuck in a middle income trap after that. only few countries have been able to come out of that and now all of them are developed if we successfully overcome this roadblock then no one can stop us from getting developed. That's why leader like modi ji is important for next 20-30 yrs.
India's existing economic complexity index is higher even for an upper middle income country and is world's only industrialized lower middle income country for a reason. At least this thing is not of a bother if India continues to discover, grab and applicate technology.
Diversification is industry is the thing what prevents middle income trap and our obsession with national power puts us beyond that.

From the PV Narsimha Rao liberalization, to maunmohan UPA rule it was the golden era to get ez investment for Industrialization that was buoyed by "animal spirits", even if reforms weren't completed, it would be overlooked.
But no, these people just had to sit on their ass and be rent seeking parasites.

Now that boom-time is long gone, and every little attribute of a country pertaining to "business friendliness" goes under a goddamn microscope.
There is a reason Chongistan really took off from 1995 iirc to 2014 thereabouts.

Modi is playing the videogame called India on very hard mode and still managing, Cong played on easy difficulty still made a mess.

Golden era ended some time in 2007-08. Manmohan's UPA only screwed mortgage laws which created defaulters like Malya and built NPAs on bank with BJP is dealing till date.

Further, their stalls on foreign procurement even after shutting down/holding indigenous programs is responsible for logistical issues of armed forces till date. If cold start capability isn't a reality yet, A.K. Anthony is to blame.

After following congress policies for couple of years, BJP changed the track since 2017. Post covid measures were really the measures we expect from a party advocating Swadeshi. Results are there in front of you. India is a trade surplus economomy in last 2 Quarters. This will strengthen INR and help us to achieve a goal of 5 aand 10 tr USD economy. We grow at a rate of 11 to 13 pc but INR depreciation eats up all gain. We should make sure that it doesn't devaluate further because it will wipe out whatever we earned from hard work.

fall of currency is halal if it is (((planned))) in order to make imports expensive and exports cheaper, i.e your exports are boosted this way, Vietnam has been doing this recently, and their abbu China also used to do this.
But in eminent economist Maunmohan's Italian proxy "rule", nothing was planned, everything just "happened"
