This in my opinion is what a next gen "tank" looks like.
Features that make it next gen
Autonomous - Crew takes extra armour to protect remove crew have a much lighter tank.
Electric drive - Instant torque and silent.
If an India version can be developed.
In a version 1 it can be like the loyal wing man concept where the tank has multiple eyes looking for atgm teams .

Version 2 can be full Autonomous.

Can start with an ai gunner .. In any case they use edge detection to highlight it for the crew. The fcs does all the aiming in any case. Driving can cone later from the civilian market.
I think it can evolve until a 1 man tank .. just the commander.. who tells the tank where to go what to shoot etc before full autonomy which takes us to terminator territory.

Have you seen how Russian tanks are performing in Ukraine?
Absolute trash equipment comes out of that hellhole.

We better start replacing our tanks ASAP with whatever we can get our hands on.
No tank will survive barage of ATGMs aiming at it like that.

Tanks used are upgraded T-72 without APS and few T-80s

these are Soviet era tanks meant to survive then... And do their job fine... T-90 is also upgraded T-72 with better armour.

Please share a viable option plan to replace them all in indian armour.

But protection looks very weak

In most of the videos of ru tanks being targeted in Ukraine we see ammo cook off. How much of a difference does it make if ammo is carried in the carousel only.

Having ammunition right there with crew and no armoured walls to protect them means once the ammo is hit crew have no chance of surviving. Thats a fatal flaw in T-72s.

What if they don't carry extra ammo in crew compartment and only in the carousel. Also does the carousel has any armour plating on top of it

It's not about extra ammo but T-72 have their ammunition store in the form of carousel in the body of the tank immediately under the turret and no separation with crew . This is the same with other T series tanks like T-80 /T-90 ( with more armour )

A leo like arrangement for ammo in the back , blowout panel and thicker armour to survive direct hit is much safer fir crew to survive in comparison.
