It seems our folks at ISRO never learns from the past .....they are repeating the same mistake that happened during Vikas engine development. After this I won't expect NGLV to be ready untill late 2030s if not early 2040s

My mistake, LVM3-SC would be no earlier than 2026

Also, you are not accounting that Gaganyaan spaceflights that are going to be there in next 2-3 years won't use SCE-200. So I forsee a longer delay after Gaganyaan.

Coming to LVM3 G1;

• LVM3 M3 in February 2022 second OneWeb mission.
• LVM3 M4 in August 2022 for Chandryaan-3.

That puts my next LVM3 G1 only in 2024 and nowhere near Q1 2023, they promised or in best case scenario, they are constructing human rated vehicle in parallel production assuming from news of human rated engines qualification tests, they at best can reduce delay by only 6 months since current total installed capacity of Indian space industry is capable of only producing two LVM3 rockets in 1 year, a fraction of ESA and China.

So, 2 unmanned flights in 2024 and first human space mission in 2025 (only after assuming that all pending projects like GSAT-20 & MOM-2 are on hold till then + ISRO doesn't take another commerical launch project of LVM3). We can say goodbye to SC120 stage for next 5 years unless it's made a part of human rated LVM3. Indian space program needs at least 5 LVM3 launches every year to clear its backlog and function normally. It would need 6-8 LVM3 launches every year if it actually wants to close some gap with US/Russia/China.

Nothing also, but low production output of Indian aerospace industry is what keeps ISRO behind NASA, RFSA and CNSA.

I never said it will be earlier than 2026, what I said is Not earlier than 2026 i.e only after 2026.....& I know G1 flight won't happen this year, it will happen only in 2024, ISRO chief hinted that earlier this year itself

About future projects, he said Isro is working on an updated version of the Geo Synchronous Launch Vehicle Mark 3, which will increase its payload capacity from 4,000kg to 5,100kg.

Narayanan said Isro is also designing a semi-cryogenic engine and what is called the Next Gen Launch Vehicle. He said the next launch of the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle will be in January. The first launch of this new rocket on August 7 this year was not a complete success. Enchanced CE-20 (serial no. E9) for new C32 stage for upgraded GSLV Mk III.

CE-20 E9 engine successfully operated at 22t thrust for 650 s yesterday at IPRC, Mahendragiri.

The engine qualification for 20 t thrust is accomplished.

The engine and the facility performed normally, and the required engine performance parameters were achieved as predicted.

Just by uprating the CE 20 and the Vikas the GTO payload of LVM3 has reached almost 5 Tonnes.
What is the expected payload to GTO after the SC120 replaces the L 110 stage? Is ISRO still sticking to the 6 Tonne number ?

When will ISRO go for a falcon 9 type rocket? SpaceX has achieved making a rocket that is very economical and can do a wide range of launches from 4 ton to 22 tons in different configurations. Why hasn't ISRO adopted that philosophy? China has and is racing to compete with SpaceX by coming out with reusable rockets.
