Whatever it is The under construction Vikrant is better than Chinese ACs . Atleast we r trying our own design , designing such complicated vessels are really a challenge, China bought the design from Ukraine and making copies of it , changing 100m length to 120m is not actually designing . There is any significant advantage in these Chinese ACs both of them r using sky jumps , the 3rd AC may use steam catapult , these Chinese claims they developed EMALS but recently SCMP reported there 3rd AC will use steam catapult . They r trying to develop a Nuke reactor for ,3rd AC they r finding it difficult to build and recently asked Russians to help . Meanwhile Vikrant is delaying mainly because of delay from other things . It would have better defence systems and EW suites than the so called big Chinese ducklings .
dude, your ship is co-designed by Italians, hardly your own design.

the construction of your ship takes so long that Chinese military fans are getting discouraged to follow its progress. Indians can't meet the deadline because most of the critical opponents are imported, the empty hull may be one of the few things that are actually built by Indians, even that is said to be made of high grade steel sourced from Russia.

this Indian domestic AC is just another lca which is doomed to fail. but I appreciate India's relentless efforts to build domestic defence industry.

Another report suggest that Chinese are not impressed with J15 it is faulty and they r going to develop another Naval fighter . Aircraft carriers without aircrafts China is really funny .
Actually, jealous Indians like you are too funny.

There are far more launches/landings of the J-15 than the Indian MiG-29 because the Liaoning is a far more active ship. (There very few videos of Indian MiG-29 launches compared to the J-15.)

And there are already two new variants of the J-15, the J-15D EW and J-15T with catapult gear.

There are plenty of J-15s for the Liaoning and plenty more for the next carriers including the CATOBARs.

Does India even have a homegrown carrier aircraft that made even one landing on a carrier? LoL

dude just stop it, you are embarrassing us.

we should only make fun of others when we can built something like that. our carrier of half of Varyang is still in U/C mode after 10+ years.
Hello Chinaman! Nice fake account BTW. Please try to counter with facts else you look stupid.

Do you have any proof of your statement? Your A/C is back in shipyard because of shoddy construction. Your manager got kicked out and jailed for being a national embarrassment. The very fighter J 15 on your ship is getting replaced for being shitty enough to have at least 4 crashes this early in development cycle. :pound:In real wartime scenario, PLAN is fucked with such low preparedness.

Now with regard to LCA, it is more of a low tier replacement for MiG 21 and MiG 27 so it's not a real priority for us. It's ramping up production if you follow the official thread. I find you clutching for straws here.

u can not just compare a carrier with 50% size of Varyang with varyang.

Viki is not even an Aircraft carrier, its a helicopter carrier with the Chamber in middle of the ship its fundamentally handicapped ship. as for migs we all know that they are not as good as su-33 fighters.
Vikrant Class -

Displacement:
Modified Kiev-class aircraft carrier -

Displacement: 45,400 tons of loaded displacement

Kuznetsov Class -

Displacement:
  • 55,000 tons (when completed)
  • 70,000 tons full load
At least try to LARP as an Indian when stating facts. LOL! 50% less.

who knows? you guys are supposed to induct that ships years ago, but now no one is sure how many more years it is gonna take.

if you can't even stick to the schedule, no one believes it's gonna be as potent as you claim it to be.
The reason for delay is change in fighters it will carry. Earlier it was going to be MIG 29k now it's being readied for Rafales and for that lifts size is being extended since Rafales don't have folding wings also arrestors which were ordered for MIG will have to recalibrated for Rafales but Russia is holding back so it's taking time but will be done. This will make it future proof as it will also be able to operate Neuron UCAV alongside Rafale Ms which are very potent unlike migs which are more capable than j15s, su33 and j15.... Once these are sorted out it will make it more potent and will be able to take on anything china can put in air....

Since the MiG-29 takes up far less space than an Su-33 you can compare them as they carry similar numbers. The max payload of an Su-33 with half fuel is 2 tonnes. The MiG-29K can carry the same thanks to its lighter weight and improved engines. Honestly, both ships are handicapped in the same way without catapults and nuclear propulsion but to each other they are comparable.
The Flanker has a SMALLER deck footprint than the Mig 29K chief. 7.4m vs 7.8m

The Su 27K airframe has a LOWER minimum airspeed than the Mig 29K, which coupled with the larger deck of the Kuznetsov class makes a safer operating environment. As opposed to the Migs that land at such a high speed, they need to be recalliberated after each landing.

There are more dimensions than just width. The Su-33 is quite a bit longer and taller than a MiG-29. The MiG-29K has 10% LOWER wing loading than the Su-27K and has a much higher thrust to weight ratio making it a better choice for a carrier fighter.

The main problems with Chinese flanker copy is that it is unable to take off from a carrier with a reasonable payload and lack of training of PLA Navy pilots being the another one...

The Soviets had the same problem with their naval Flankers. China's biggest problem is a faulty flight control system before you ever get to the tactical problems.

We are going to get it by 2020. You guys took 14 years to furnish Ukraine platform.
Chinese bought the ship in 1999, it arrived at Chinese port in 2002, the refurbishment began in 2005, it was renamed and inducted in 2012, do your math, how many years it took us to furnish the ship?

what is the status of vikrant? I highly doubt indians could get it done by 2019. if you people pull that off, I will salute you guys.

Talk again when it goes on sea trials. lol

That Indian 40000-ton carrier’s keel was laid down in 2009 and is still unfinished. The new 65000-ton Chinese carrier CV17’s keel was put down in 2015 and has already done the first part of its sea trials this year.

That’s 65000-ton completed in two years.

By the time you get the Vikrant, the third Chinese carrier CV18 will come out.

CV19, CV20 and CV21 will almost certainly arrive before India gets her next carrier. Your defense department hadn’t even accepted a proposal yet. And judging by the Vikrant you people need a dozen years between keel and sea trials.

the main problems with Indian navy are that they have never operated newly built sophisticated modern aircraft carriers, all they had and are having are second hand, decades-old, obsolete aircraft carriers, which stand no chance in a modern maritime war.

one thing i admire Indian bureaucracy is that no one gets punished for delaying the programme for so long, those who made decision in the first place and those who oversee the progress are just fine even though it is behind schedule for like a decade. simply marvelous.

LOL... These decades old carriers ensures the destruction of enemy in case of war, remember how we fucked your ally porkistan in 1971, even today porkis shit their pants upon hearing the name of INS Vikrant. We have much more experience than you guys in operating CBGs in which you are never going to catch up.

Thsts a disingenuous argument mate. Length and height are metrics that hardly matter when parking jets on deck. Even if Kuznetsov switched to an all Mig 29K airwing, it would still carry the exact same number of airframes because the Su27k/J15 has a SMALLER deck footprint than the Mig29.

How did you factor in EFFECTVE wing loading into your "10% lower" figure, considering that the Flanker has canards, large LERX's and considerable amounts of body lift? How can a jet with higher wing loading have a LOWER minimum airspeed

But I guess the proof is in the pudding. The only navy to operate both airframes on a war footing flew more A2G sorties with legacy Su33's upgraded with SVP 24 and KAB 500M than it did with the Mig29... The Su33 even produced more CAP sorties from Kuznetsov than the Mig did.

You mean there is no accountability. To be fair, a lot of countries have that problem too. Only difference is that India started having this problem a very long time ago and it is very chronic, and there is no end in sight. It even became a cultural thing too, everything is chaotic, delayed or over-budget but it will get done eventually. It's the same here too in Malaysia among Indian Malaysian communities. I personally think it's the Indian emphasis on "debate" rather than getting things done....I guess that's why Indians are the best lawyers.

Really?

How come there are far, far, far more videos of J-15 launching and landing from the Liaoning than MIG-29K from the Vikramaditya?

In fact, it was very hard for me to find even two videos of the Indian MIG doing carrier stuff.

How do you Indians get that “experience” when you fly so little?

Because our claim to Naval prowess and military prowess does not rest on a set of internet videos. We are not like PRC. Indian military has proven itself in combat you wombat. We do not need to show the world that we can operate carriers by using propaganda videos like you do.
