Have you ever even seen a fighter from up close?

Anyone expecting a fighter to look like a show-room car for marketing purposes misses the very point of what they are. They're war fighting machines, exposed to the elements, flying supersonic and parked out in the open for long periods. The grime, dust and dirt is a badge of pride, it shows the fighter is being used heavily. I've seen US Navy jets (T-45 Goshawk and Super Hornet) and US Air Force fighters (F-15C, F-16 and A-10s) up close and if you feel that only IAF jets are dirty you're wrong BIG TIMe! They're bog dirty at times. Maintainers worry about the systems working perfectly for the next sortie, not so much about how clean or dirty the jet looks.

Unless you're expecting that the IAF employ cleaners to keep their jets spic and span so they can get good PR material.
you have used some cool words and saying all fighter jets are dirty to justify lca is no exception, then please provide links to dirty pics of US fighter jets after all they are also "fighting machines, exposed to the elements, flying supersonic and parked out in the open for long periods".

FYI you are not defending a fighter jet, you are defending a sarkari naukar who dont even care about international image of product developed by thousands of scientists.

Those Hellenic Vipers, do zoom in and check the paint condition. You'd have gotten a heart attack if those were Indian F-16s.

Regarding your point on sarkari naukar and all, goes to show your own mentality.

Problem is that none of these pic is the "profile picture" used in Wikipedia pages and hardly any of these will come up in top 100 results if you search for F-16 or Super Hornets.

What is the first picture comes up when you search TEJAS?

And how does that matter? Does the FAA or the RMAF or any other interested air force look at Wikipedia to judge the Tejas? PR is built by service history and capabilities that it displays at Air Shows, Exercises, etc. Negative articles that build a fake narrative (such as the umpteen ones that many journos wrote) about how it didn't meet requirements, was overweight, etc. were the ones that did the real harm to it's image, not a picture of an in-service Tejas flying.

IMO, that air to air pic of an in-service Tejas is beautiful. Air to air pics are as it is rare to find, and that one was taken by an IAF PRO from the back of an An-32. Grime or some paint wearing off is only natural for any fighter.

I couldn't find the sbs link but they basically have a news channel and just saw a video of it in sm
But I am sure sbs has clearly told that deal in next week
Been over 10 days bro.. next week came and went since! No winner announced yet. Instead what we have is our own hit job from the Philipines AF spox on the FA-50. 9 out of 12 are cooling their heels in hangars. Buyers beware!

You should see the US navy ships these days, they are all shown with rust out in the open when they come for port in other countries. Most other countries including india has really clean ships in comparison and cannot be easily detected for rust or other smoke remnants on the ship sides.

This is the rust on ships in the US Navy out in the open in recent times and these are the main guys who everyone is relying on stopping china which s building more ships than the US.

I keep track of US navy as it will be the primary force if anything happens in our area and things don't look too good from the US side. actually all the smaller players such as japan, south korea and even us are doing better.

hardly ever see any navy ship of any other country in this condition and these ships visit other countries ports in this condition too and there are many instances of this.they visit europe and austrailia, japan like this.

never seen even pakistani navy have this culture.it is also recent, the US navy in the cold war was not like this.

You follow sub brief ?
Perhaps it is culture.. (There have been shocking antics by USN members) ..
But the main problem is that they have way too many deployments not enough down time + money for maintenance is going down

Malaysia may go with fa50 as they quoted less price than Tejas. I rarely see at this moment they change their mind.
They quoted more that us at 4.2 Billion Ringgit.

Its a realtively new stipulation. Crews are not required to repaint/polish their ship while on sailing.

The USN manpower is straining at the seams, too long deployment cycles, too few hulls to do all that they are asked to do - and too many crisises that makes Congress go "send in the carriers"

This and also the paints on USN ships are environmental friendly (less lead or something like that)..which peels off much more easily than normal paint on ships
