hvt sir said mk1a & mk2 will NOT supercruise
Mk2 will have supercruise capabilities. This is said be a scientist involved in MWF programme. MWF is a highly optimised design for weught as well as for aerodynamics. Nothing in the catagory can match MWF except Gripdn NG. Don't underestimate MWF design.

In which configuration? Supercruise with any useful payload or clean configuration with less fuel and cold atmosphere?
see this ,it will supercruise without any stores on it ,i am not able to find other discussions on twitter with hvt sir but as remember tejas mk2 cannot super cruise with weapons

gripen supercruises at 1.1 ,it is practically of no use, just like f35 does at mach 1 , anything above 1.4 is good for kinetic energy in case of release of weapons,or evading without exposing ir signature, tejas mk2 might also do at 0.9(technically not supercruise) not a whole lot of difference
With a useful A2A load, how is the 1.1M speed achieved? Diving and levelling, or with own engine's dry thrust? How long can the 1.1M speed be sustained? Lots of questions to be answered. Token supercruise speed and sustenance is of no use other than appearing on brochures.

I was asking about Gripen's supercruise mode. Because they had published a similar payload and ferry range stat- very unrealistic kinda

How useful or practical is supercruise when you have weapons onboard? How long can a Tejas supercruise with weapons onboard?
Supercruise means being supersonic without afterburner

Yes I know that. Without afterburner, what is the fuel consumption rate for supercruise? Is it in tens of minutes or significantly greater than that? Because with afterburner, you only have about 2-3 minutes of fuel before you go bingo. And can you go Mach 1.6 with weapons onboard? And if so, how long before structural integrity degrades?

True

But even then there is slight advantage. An aircraft with high dry thrust also ensure less use of afterburner and low IR signature turns into better fuel economy advantage in dog fight etc.

Having said so even with no supercruise a decent radar BVR capability is more than enough. It's not like we are going to use Tejas in high payload strike role and even if we do there will be escort too.

The bottomline is how you use and fly your aircraft is equally important.

Hey guys aerodynamics and air intake designs are very important. Gripen super cruises inspite of being havier than Tejas.
Yes that's true... That's where experience in designing craft come into play. If you look in

The mk2 will definitely improves on that but then there is always a limit.

The GE F414 won't provide the thrust required to do so .

We do have 398km R-37 missiles for our AWACS destroying needs...how many numbers is still unknown.
Who told you that India Operates R-37 missiles? Could you provide a source or any bit or Proof for this claim? As far as I am concerned, only the Russians use it on their MiG-31 BM Interceptors.

there was some talk about k300 or something like that....but no real data
There is no such missile called as the K-300, I think so you are referring to Novator KS-172 Missile. Yes there were lot of reports and conspiracies with regards to it that india actually uses it but it's not confirmed and many doubt it to be true that India Operates K-172 Missile in it's Inventory.
