They are AS INTERESTED in it as DRDO. Rolls-Royce needs a new engine program to help itself as well. They were even willing to support Turkey with a turbofan engine development program.

Just as India had trade and defence relationships with the UK even when it was supplying to Pakistan, India must be strategically autonomous to be able to supply Argentina and continue with a defence and trade relationship with the UK.
Infact we should use them as bargaining chip with French to get a better deal. British are not reliable & we kinda hate eachother.

Tejas is no longer connected to merely replacing MiG-21. as su30mki has replaced the bulk already.

Lca number will reach 300 approx but for whole different reasons.
What are those few reasons? Care to explain?

Only reason I see is that LCA was proposed to be merely an interceptor during early 2000s...in 20 years, it has grown to become a multirole fighter with incredibly low RCS.

Anyways, fielding Tejas for CAP will be much better than putting pilots at risk on Mig 21s.

After initial 123 lca mk1/ mk1a rest will be MWF which has evolved into medium category and will be replacment for mirage and jaguars from 2028-29.
So it's not about mig replacement after mk1a.

Kind of seems like a lowball, should (hopefully) be more than 300 in the long run since they'll eventually be replacing 3 different MiG's + the Jaguars.

They can then completely take over CAP/interceptor/point defense, and basic interdiction missions. Could be used for some CAS as well, but if IAF achieves air superiority early on then even Armed Bae Hawks dedicated to Army + helos like LCH, Rudra and Apaches in big numbers could mostly handle CAS.

Bana ji, it seems people are more optimistic here .
Plus I don't think IAF will agree to this , after all 126 multirole fighter requirement will be always there.
Plus given the current production rate , 300 looks far fetched.

For cas , Htt 40 armed variant but operated by army should be used

Yea but the Rafale and LCA MK2 aren't exactly the same level of aircraft. The only LCA family member in that category is the ORCA concept (which hopefully gets backing because it seems to hold the key to the actualization of TEDBF which the Navy needs, due to its folding wing/lift size conundrum on Vikramaditya and Vikrant)

Point defence is now more about SAMs and cas is increasingly attack helicopters.

Even if 200 MWF come total numbers will still be 323 .
