There isn’t enough of a gap between BTA and the AJT to justify the IJT. Would be a needless step
Imho, most airforces with the Hawk send pilots straight from BTA to Hawk AJT.

IRJT only made sense when BTA and AJT deals were stuck.
IAF had three step training program before. It changed to two stages because of lack of replacement for previous hjt 16 Kiran .

Now with hjt 36 sitara getting ready . IAF will get smoother three stage training regime.

What is there to clarify. It can lift 5 ton payload. Previous figures of 4 ton were excessively conservative because lca was still undergoing lots of testing. Now they have tested and established that it can indeed lift 5 ton + payload although that would severely cripple it's range and manuevering and have an effect on airframe life but it makes good figure for brochure just like gripen c/d.

For all practical purposes both lca and gripen c/d will only carry about 4- 4.5 ton payload.

Tejas Mk-1A Unit price falls from $64.5 million to $58.1 million

HAL had asked for Rs 463 crore ( $64.5) for the Tejas Mk-1A versus Rs 363 crore ( $50.6) for the original LCA-Tejas Mk1. Now revised price after renegotiation stands at 417 crores ($58.1) per unit cost in fly-away condition minus its weapons system. Su-30MKI built at Nashik by HAL costs around Rs 415 crore ($57.8) per unit, which still makes Tejas Mk-1A per unit cost higher than locally build Su-30MKI.

The comparison with Su-30MKI is not done in an apples-apples comparison.
Su-30MKI engine has less than 2000 hrs lifetime (sometimes lasting only 1000 hrs), whereas Tejas Mk1A engine (F404) has 4000+ hours of lifetime.

These prices are still speculative. Previous reports mentioned unit price of 275cr. ( 40 million) .

Let the deal be signed only then we'll know what is exact price and what is support package.

Lifetime cost might be nearly half of the Su-30, and reliability higher.
WTF!!! They officially said that price was renegotiated between ₹250-275 crores & maintanence/support separately... The ₹45000 is the combined package, not $50mil for each plane.

The article mentions: "Prices mentions are estimated costs since the deal will also include 3 simulator cost and additional infrastructure cost which was required to set up an additional production line which also includes investment cost of research and development of upgraded Tejas Mk1A fighter aircraft."

... then how is it cost of the aircraft? If IAF grows a brain and orders more FOC Tejas between 2020 & 2023 they'll coat even lesser.
IDRW should have put the disclaimef on top of the article, not bottom.

Tejas having more double Su-30's lifetime & half its maintenance cost is completely different advantage.

No idea. Pechora will get replaced with new akash squadron coming in anyway.
Do we need to? What’s the cost of maintenance? These can act as last line of defence and will certainly keep paki choppers and drones at bay with 3.5 mach and 20 km range it’s still packs a punch..

HJT 36 Sitara the intermediate trainer. As they have mastered the spin recovery in HTT40, they will bring that knowledge to HJT 36.

Whether they will get order for HJT 36 is different thing but HAL will try to set the record straight.
Definitely they will get order for hjt36
............
Now Pilatus is out.....
And due to unavailability of im
Not to mention su30mki price is after building 200+ planes.
Though su30 has a powerful radar...but it's..
But mk1a will have an aesa....
This also increase s price

Bdw paki ly80 can only shoot.... objects with 300m/sec..

That's the only air defence Pakistan has...
Also they have manpads.........

All missiles have a lifespan . Maintaining them after that is not just costly but also very dangerous and unreliable.

Flyaway cost of plane generally includes r&d and manufacturing plant/ line costs.

Support package is extra which is maintainance , Availablity over 70% , performance guarantee , spares and weaponary. If these things are not included in 45K Cr package then I'm afraid 50 million is the unit cost.

But it's all speculation still. The solution to minimize costs is to ofcourse order more planes.

But I realize lately IAF doesn't want a smaller airframe in huge numbers and has selected mwf as the optimum size for backbone of airforce. Although 40 for mk1a should be ordered to amortize costs and fill in squadron gaps faster.
